Romantic Autumn Get Away In The Great Smoky Mountains
Fall colors in the Smoky Mountains can make for a magical romantic get away that will never be forgotten. The cooling days walking hand in hand through the rustling leaves, followed by the chilly evenings in front of a fireplace or in a hot tub can spark the heat of passion that every couple lives for.
Waking up in the mornings in the arms of your lover and looking out to see the sunlit reds, greens and oranges on an autumn day in the Smokies can have an effect that is aphrodisiac in nature.
Grab my hand and take a slow walk through one of the most heart warming areas in America.
A Little Romantic Music To Send You On Your Way
Enjoy the soothing soul rendering romantic music as you plan your trip for a romantic get away to experience the fall colors of The Smoky Mountain National Park.

The Smokies On The Map
Romancing The Fall Colors Of The Smoky National Park
For millions of couples, the Great Smoky National Park is just a few short hours from where they live; longer if they travel via the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway (my suggestion). To make the trip to the area of the Smokies, from mid-October to late October, can rekindle old sparks, or put another passion stamp on a blazing romance.
The annual color explosion at the park typically begins early to mid October above 4000 feet and then burns to the lower altitudes over the next few weeks. Add the fact that there are many types of deciduous trees and hundreds of different type of flowering plants, some of which are Fall bloomers, and the recipe for romantic views and walks is one of tasty passion.
The time of year is perfect for a long weekend get away when considering the hectic holiday schedule that follows and the requirements of being a parent to school children. Sometimes life gets in the way of love, and we need to grab at the chance for the awe inspiring moments when two hearts collide without inhibition.
Bookend a weekend with Friday and Monday vacation days, ship the kids off to the grandparents, grab your lover and head to the Smokies. Check in to a cabin, chalet, or the fabulous Park Vista Hotel in Gatlinburg Tennessee. Whichever your choice, get something with a view of the mountains.
From Gatlinburg to Townsend, Cherokee N.C. to Maggie Valley, and Fontana Resort, the lovely fall colors of The Smoky National Park are within a heart's touch and a lover's reach. Forget the outside world and live the magic that can only be woven by two people in the backdrop of the best that Mother Nature has to offer.
Spend the next three days in the park, and the nights in the room. If there is no magic spell cast upon your hearts by the romantic colors, cool walks, and warm company, then love is lost.

Romantic Hot Tub View
Sparks Or No Sparks?
There are more than a handful of locations around the world that market to the romantic side of us. Little wedding chapels, honeymoon suites, romantic get aways and heart shaped hot tubs seem to be the lure of passion according to the barkers.
The question is; why is all this necessary? Does romance need occasional kick in the butt? Or is love safe in the ruts?
Do you believe that romantic get aways are needed?

True love never needs a pick me up. Romantic get aways are a waste of time.
Romantic get aways are an important way for couples to re-energize their passion.
ShirlW says:
One of the main elements of a successful relationship is time together, minus any outside influence. If you have to "go away" to accomplish that, then yes indeed get aways are necessary.
Ramkitten says:
Definitely! And so are "date nights" with your significant other, especially couples who've been together for a long time. It's important to take time just for the two of you and keep the sparks flying now and then.
enslavedbyfaeries says:
Definitely, yes! A change of scenery is always a nice distraction from the daily responsibilities and worries that can sometimes get in the way of romance.
aj2008 says:
Oh absolutely - when you have four kids and a lopy dog, a couple of days away for just the two of you can work wonders ;)
LaraineRose says:
If not necessary, certainly enjoyable! Hubby and I take 1 month off every year. We go to Oregon or somewhere that has a beach where we can walk and hold hands. Never the same place twice. There are so many wonderful places to see and we come back very refreshed and relaxed.
Janusz says:
Without question!, I just need someone to join me on one :D
clouda9 says:
Absolutely! Rekindles and ignites!
ajgodinho says:
I think spending quality time with your loved ones, and especially your lover, is key to the growth of any relationship - so I romantic get-aways are important. However, for whatever reason, one can't "get-away" to a remote place that's so beautiful, then just try the best you can - I agree with "BevsPaper" - it's about "setting the mood"! I love nature and beautiful places and I'd love to "get-away" to the Great Smoky Mountains! :)
BevsPaper says:
Re-energizing is always a good thing. Get aways can be anywhere even at home...it's all about setting the mood.

Maybe not NEEDED but definitely helpful!
The Romantic Colors From Different Views
Smoky Mountain Walking Trails
The Great Smoky National Park Offers over 70 walking/hiking/horseback trails that range from easy to strenuous. I personally recommend the easy walking trails for a romantic get away. After all, this not a trip for any other sport than love, so leave your hiking attitude at home and bring your warm heart. Take it easy, walk hand in hand, maybe giggle and stop for long embraces in the cool mountain air. Let the colors wash you in their magic.
Townsend
Townsend Tennessee is 15 miles (as the crow flies) to the west of Gatlinburg and offers some of the best accommodations in the area for that special long weekend of passion. seemingly secluded from all the noise and glitter that permeates Gatlinburg, Townsend offers many cabins, cottages, and Bed and Breakfasts, including one that was named three years in a row, by Traveler's Inn, as the B&B with the best view in America.
Hot tubs, fireplaces and splendid views are the order of the day in many of the cabins and cottages of Townsend.
Cherokee, North Carolina
Located 34 miles south of Gatlinburg, Cherokee North Carolina snuggles right up against the southern edge of the Great Smoky National Park. The Cherokee reservation is a peaceful area dotted with a few mountain cabin rentals with spectacular views of the Smokies.
Fontana Resort
Located on southwestern reaches of the park, Fontana Lake Resort offers a lodge or cabins for rental. The are is secluded from any and all of the hustle and bustle of outside influence and provides the essential atmosphere for that spark couples desire to feel.
Maggie Valley, North Carolina
Long heralded as the Gateway To The Smokies, Maggie Valley is yet another area that offers peaceful surroundings for its many cabins and cottages. A short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway and a romantic, 15 mile drive to the Oconaluftee Visitor Center in the Smoky Mountain National Park will certainly stoke love's furnace.
Park Vista Hotel, Gatlinburg
Normally, for a romantic interlude in the area of the Smokies, I'd advise steering clear of Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area, but I have to recommend Park Vista for it's stunning views of the mountains. Located high on a hill, the 16 story round hotel is tops for services and seclusion. They offer a shuttle into Gatlinburg, perfect for those late day romantic dinners.
Find A Place To Fuel The Flame
Seek out that perfect cabin, chalet, cottage, bed and breakfast, or room at the Park Vista in Gatlinburg.

- While we live an hour or so from the Smokies, but a get away isn't likely this year. We do, however go hiking once a week, just the two of us in a state park. We call it our weekly "honeymoon". The colors here in our part of NC (Charlotte) are just beginning to tease us.

- I love the Smokies. Hiked through there on the Appalachian Trail ten years ago, and I'd love to go back for a visit. I really like living in the southwest, but I do miss the fall colors back east.

- A getaway isn't possible for us this year, but you've definitely inspired me to plan a romantic picnic in the canyon with my husband while the leaves are bursting with color.

- Breathtaking pictures. But can't see any smoke or BBQ like the name suggest. It could be misleading.
