broccoli and i will never become friends
  • nancycarol Sep 16, 2011 @ 10:44 pm | delete
Nope, I raised my kids by putting a little of every thing on their plate at a meal. All I asked of them was to taste each thing before they made a decision. Sometimes that worked well, other times it didn't. But I find that as they have grown up, their tastes have matured, and now they all love broccoli, fixed just about any way you can make it. I think you should do a broccoli recipe lens, with all your favorites. Who says broccoli can't taste good? Love the lens, and the subject.

As far as I can remember, I've always loved vegetables (I'm one of those odd balls) :) I don't think my mom had a problem getting me to eat my vegetables...lol and I love broccoli too...blessings to you for helping people understand the healthy benefits of broccoli! :)

I think the key is to cook it properly. Brown, mushy broccoli is no fun for anyone.
  • fluffyclouds Mar 23, 2011 @ 11:31 am | delete
Broccoli has always been my favorite veggie. Have you ever heard of super-tasters? They are people with a dense pack of tastebuds on their tongue - researchers say they taste "bitter" more acutely which may explain why some people cannot stand veggies like broccoli.

Great lens, I love broccoli with butter and salt :)

I do try to love broccoli, but I'm afraid that it's not my favourite. You persuaded me a little bit though!

I have been wracking my brain, trying to figure this one out. I have another lens with the same problem. I resized that image, removed another that had coding problems...and still no fix. I'd appreciate any more ideas if you have them. It's driving me crazy!
  • spirituality May 10, 2009 @ 11:25 am | delete
The reason the menu is down below is that one of your pictures isn't coded correctly- I'd guess the one with the very special broccoli - from allposters. Try resetting the width of it - or just editing the module and saving and publishing again sometimes works as well.

I'm not a huge fan of broccoli but I eat it because "it's good for" me. I like trying new ways to camouflage it and you've given me some ideas. Thanks. We have a broccoli salad recipe that I especially enjoy: a bit of mayo, brown sugar, raisins, almonds etc. that's very tasty. I guess mayo and sugar can make anything taste good. LOL

broccoli rocks! Had to add the kids book 'doc broc' by health/nutrition guru Dr Robert Young, a great book to help kids understand the value of healthy eating!

I love broccoli, expecially in salads (the tomato, red onion, and mozzarella combination you've shown looks yummy). What a terrific lens! I'm featuring this on my Squid Angel Diary.

    Yum! Thanks for the recipes!

One of my favorite ways to eat broccoli is raw with hummus, but its great on pizza or in lasagna as well!
  • flowergardener Aug 8, 2008 @ 2:11 pm | delete
I LOVE broccoli! Many I know have to have it either cooked, or raw with a dip, I like it that way too, but the best is just raw fresh broccoli. (he-he) and thanks for visiting my flowergarden lens! GOTCHA! you're right, a flowergardener's desires for the newest, prettiest, most different flower or flower color never end! Glad I could 'inspire' you!
  • JaguarJulie Aug 7, 2008 @ 10:20 am | delete
I have broccoli several times a week -- will by the florets frozen and a couple of the stalks. I also love brussels sprouts and cucumbers -- interesting how these vegies are all green! Great lens. Hmmm, I think I'll be having broccoli for dinner.
  • beeobrien Aug 6, 2008 @ 9:17 pm | delete
Broccoli is one of the few veggies my son will eat. We love it. You should have given me some warning, though, about the chocolate broccoli. That looks evil. Lensrolling you to my zucchini lens.
  • seedplanter Aug 6, 2008 @ 8:55 pm | delete
Homeopath, unfortunately many adults carry over a dislike for certain veggies, so they don't buy the ones they dislike. My dad loved cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, brussels sprouts. So do I. My mom was a pea-corn-lima bean lover.
  • The_Homeopath Aug 6, 2008 @ 8:50 pm | delete
My kids we all born in love with broccoli, I guess. We eat it probably 2-3 times a week, it is sooooooo delicious. Kashi has a new frozen pizza out with roasted veggies (including broccoli) and I really recommend trying it if your store carries it. You know, I never understood the whole "kids don't like veggies thing". I've got 4 kiddos and veggies have never been an issue. Hmmmm...

I love my veggies, Broccoli is good. 5*****
