Fall Wedding Flowers
I have a soft spot for fall. It's my favorite time of the year and, not co-incidentally, was when I was married. The days are so clear and fresh. Nature is putting on a magnificent show. The colors are gorgeous. Despite what people seem to think, fall flowers are just as plentiful and beautiful as spring flowers (more so if you ask me).
A big advantage of choosing your wedding flowers to match the season is that they are often cheaper than those shipped in or grown out of season. With the price of weddings skyrocketing, it's a wise move to save money where you can. But don't worry, just because you're saving money, it doesn't mean you need to skimp on your flowers.
No matter what the palette and style of your wedding, there a fall wedding flowers to match. White, yellow, pink, blue...traditional or modern, extravagant or simple you are sure to find a flower from the season that will fit right in with your beautiful wedding vision.
Here are a few suggestions:
White
*Aster
*Shrub honeysuckle
*Chrysanthemum
Yellow
*Iris
*Winter Jasmine
*Mini calla
Pinks and Reds
*Aster
*Poinsettia
*Euphorbia
Blue and purple
*Iris (another favorite)
*Statice
*Hydrangea
Green
*Hydrangea
*Mini calla
*Chrysanthemum
*Viburnum
Greenery
*Mrs Robb's Bonnet
*Mahonia
*Eucalyptus
Many people don't realise is that silk flowers are often cheaper than real ones. They are extremely realistic, are available in virtually any flower, great for allergy sufferers and of course, you will have a beautiful keepsake of your wedding day.
Others choose to save even more money by arranging their flowers themselves. This is a good option if you have the time and the expertise to do it. Certainly for simpler arrangements it can be a great idea.
If you are preparing your own flowers things you need to consider are the life of the flower (you definitely don't want something wilting before your day is over), the best arrangement to set off the flowers and preparation and binding the flowers (no rose thorns or flowers falling out of your bouquet).
I would still suggest that you have a chat with a good florist as well. They have a great deal of knowledge about the best flowers to use, techniques and the latest styles.
Fall also provides some great alternatives to traditional flower arrangements. Try thinking outside the square a little and take your cues from what is going on in nature. Keep an eye out at farmers markets for items to use in your table centrepieces. Pumpkins, for example, are available in a huge range of sizes, shapes and colors. I probably wouldn't suggest using only pumpkins, but they could serve as an interesting accent or receptacle for your flowers.
Whatever your vision for your special day, fall wedding flowers are sure to add a memorable touch.

My daughter was married in the fall and we used the dried Mountain Hydrangea. It was beautiful. Great lens.
