Lee Shin

Lee Shin (Jung Yong Hwa) is a 21 year old musical-talented man who is the lead vocalist & guitarist for band called "Stupid". Even though he's musically talented, however, he is extremely cold and never takes his music studies seriously. He is also very unfriendly.

He really loves his family, however, he has a distant relationship with his dad.

He loves his 31 year old dance professor, Jung Yoon Soo, but as the drama progresses and he meets Lee Kyu Won, he starts to fall in love with her.

Lee Kyu Won

Lee Kyu Won (Park Shin Hye) is a 21 year old university student. She comes from a prestigious family, her grandfather is a famous traditional music singer. His dream is for his granddaughter to be a traditional music instrument expert, so as a loving granddaughter, Kyu Won enters the university majoring in traditional music instrument and is working hard playing & practicing Gayageum.

She first meets up with Lee Shin when she watches The Stupid band performance. Contrary to Lee Shin, Kyu Won is very outgoing. She brings happiness and joy to everyone around her.

Kim Suk Hyun

Kim Suk Hyun (Song Chang Ui) is a famous worldwide theatrical director who is extremely ambitious. He returns to this performing art university to help with their anniversary production. He was the former lover of Jung Yoon Su.

Throughout the drama, he will help, encourage and support both Lee Shin, Kyu Won and other students in that university to achieve their musical dream.

Jung Yoon Soo

Jung Yoon Soo (So Yi Hyun) is a dance instructor who is loved by Lee Shin, an extremely cold musician. She's a talented dancer but was forced to bury her dancing career.

She was Kim Suk Hyun's former lover.

Park Shin Hye, the lead actress of You've Fallen For Me got into a car accident early last week and even though she was released from the hospital a day after and back at the filming, however, she has experienced the aftereffect of the accident and was back at the hospital for physiotherapy.

Therefore, You've Fallen For Me (Heartstrings) Episode 8 was postponed. On 21 July 2011, Heartstrings aired a special episode (recap of episode 1 -7) instead.

After watching the first 10 episodes, I could say this is a romantic comedy drama, not youth melodrama as this drama is classified into. The storyline is basically similar with other youth K-Drama, in which the lead male character is a cool, stubborn, annoying-kind of boy who unexpectedly falls in love with the girl who he hates the most. And the girl will enter his life and help him to grow into a mature man.

The first two episodes were slow for me as they tried to introduce the characters. Yong Hwa's acting has improved from his Boy Over Flower era, however, he will definitely need to step it up. On the other hand, I love Shin Hye's portrayal of Kyu Won, I could feel her raw emotion even when she's playing gayageum.

The next three episodes were quite good but I'm still waiting for more storyline to develop amongst the main lead characters.

I am surprised that Heartstrings always got low ratings (below 10%) for its first six episodes. Okay, it's true that this drama is currently facing fierce competition from City Hunter (which is in the same time slot as Heartstrings). And City Hunter is currently in its last 4 episodes, so viewers will definitely prefer to watch City Hunter. However, Heartstrings is in different genre as City Hunter and I thought this drama's rating will be at least in 10%ish. I was shocked hearing the news that Heartstrings will undergo production changes.

Episode 9 was the turning point for me, this drama is amazing! Full of cuteness and romantic scenes.. I love it so much =) I'm also doing the happy dance because the ratings have improved. Yay...

I don't want to talk about rating for episode 10 though :( Sad to hear about it! Every Heartstrings lovers, fighting! Let's support our favorite drama until the end. Only 5 episodes to go...
