ELECTORAL COLLEGE VS POPULAR VOTE

The Electoral College should be done away with and Popular Vote should be the way that the President is chosen. For the Electoral College each state has a number of electors equal to the number of its Senators and Representatives in the United States Congress. Additionally, Washington, D.C. is given a number of electors equal to the number held by the smallest states. Each elector casts one vote for President and one vote for Vice President, which they can do without ever considering the popular votes. For the Candidate to win they need to win 270 of the 538 Votes. This is all an indirect voting system, which doesn't need to take in account everyone's vote, obviously as seen with the recently past elections. Scary enough, I think that Obama will win popular vote, but McCain will win Electoral, just like Bush and we will have another 4 more years of this same B.S.
It is 2008 it's time to do away with an old ass system put forth by the founding fathers, hell even the past 2 elections we had the technology to account and record everyone's vote. More People Vote for American Idol then they do for the President, and yet they are able to keep track of all the votes and not have any problems. Have you ever tried voting twice for Dancing With The Stars, it will tell you that you've already voted, so obviously they are able to keep track of who voted and something could be put forth that would work just like that for the Presidential Votes.
Until the Electoral College is done away with, your vote really doesn't matter, it's those 538 electors that determine. Sure they might vote the same as you so you feel as if you had something to do with it, but in reality it honestly doesn't matter if you vote or not. The voting is just a show put on by our government. As it says "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all."
