What a collection of recipe books! I keep thinking I ought to clear out my collection, and just use the internet, but somehow I am reluctant to do this - it's like clinging onto the past. Some of them I have kept for 50 years.

Thanks for sharing online your delicious recipes. Your family must be very well-fed! xD

I love getting and also sharing family recipes. Just stocked up on a bunch this last visit to mom's house. Thank goodness she had a printer or my hand would be VERY sore ;) Love this lens Susan.

I've gotten some of my best recipes from newspaper and magazine clippings and from my mom. The rest come from my friends, and from my vast collection of cookbooks .

That's a good idea: family recipes would be a very sad loss.

I have many cookbooks and saved recipes. I frequently turn to my tattered and beloved 1965 Betty Crocker cookbook, Joy of Cooking and Moosewood Cookbook for inspiration. Fantastic lens most worthy of its purple star - congrats!

I can't believe I actually have the Betty Crocker Cookbook, given to me
by my mom when she died. Honestly, I can't say I've paid much attention to it-- except for now!!

    Congrats on your Purple Star!!

Congratulations on that beautiful purple star!! Lensrolling to family cookbook and blessed by a joyful angel!

Fantastic job! Congrats on the purple star too. I just returned from the farmer's market and am making a pasta salad similar to the one you've shown here. Blessings to you.

    Nicely done! :)

What a great idea. I honestly didn't think of it but it would be hard to start from scratch again.

You know Susan, my grandmother's recipes were written on paper and given to my sister that lives in Columbus, Ohio. It would be cool if those could be transferred into a family heirloom cookbook. Recently, I decided to purchase a couple of Hungarian cookbooks to figure out how to make veal paprikas. Cool lens my dear!

    Perfect prized possession!

Beautiful lens, I've transferred all of my family's recipes to computer now, but still keep the original old oak recipe box, with the index cards that my grandma & great-grandmother wrote out their recipes by hand on... The sentimental value of handwritten recipes by our loved ones who have passed is just priceless :-)

    Fantastic idea!
  • shajo Jun 21, 2009 @ 7:07 am | delete
That pasta looks yummy! My grandmother wrote down a whole bunch of recipes for me when I was younger and I keep them in a little blue box in my kitchen. They are some of the best family recipes ever. I really enjoyed your lens and are you going to post the Mexican Cassersole Recipe?

LOL I think I need to fix both of those recipes, take pictures and make a couple of lenses!
  • stargazer00 Jun 20, 2009 @ 8:37 pm | delete
OK Susan, I want the recipes for Banana-Nut Cake and Janice's Festive Crab Quiche. Didn't you know that the rule is you can't toss those out there without giving the recipe? ;-)
    Doing some lensrolling here.

    Nicely done, Susan, & blessed.
Also lensrolled to my Recipe For Collecting Cookbooks lens.

    Pasta with meatballs :)

Your cookbook shelf looks a lot like mine! We treasure my Mom's apple pie recipe most at my house.

What fun!!! Lensrolling to our favorite family recipe, Congo Squares, and also to our Family Cookbook! A dear friend, who is a scrapbooker, visited all of her friends, took photos, and had us each write our recipes for her. That book is a treasure for sure! (except she insisted I write by hand -- and my typing is much easier to read!). Super lens idea! I enjoyed every word!
