Dear Old Canterbury! I came to this lens completely by chance, and I'm so delighted!!! In my student years I spent a year abroad at University of Kent at Canterbury, as it was called then. This lens brings back so lovely memories... The Cathedral is absolutely marvelous, and as a local, what I was during the year, I could enter it free of charge. What a treat it was! But I'd highly recommend going in for an admission fee as well! And the Cathedral grounds are also nice for strolling around outside... And the Fish and Chips shop opposite the Waterstone's bookshop! Wonder if it still exists... I also liked the Roman Museum and the Canterbury Heritage Museum.

As for Broadstairs, I went there on the day after my last exam. Strolling around the town and beach and enjoying its old-fashionedness. It was a sunny day, and I still remember how I felt and how magic the place seemed to me after having had my nose glued to textbooks for weeks...

AND how nice to learn that this lovely lens is a recent LOTD! Congrats! And thank you for making it!
  • prosperity66 Jan 9, 2010 @ 8:45 pm | delete
And thank you for sharing your experience in both Canterbury and Broadstairs! I'm really happy the lens does please to you!

Congrats on your Purple Star. I would bless this lens but I'm not yet an angel. Maybe one day!
  • prosperity66 Jan 9, 2010 @ 7:21 am | delete
Thanks :) Wish you become an Angel one day!!!

Nice, I'm a local to the area, Canterbury. It's interesting to see how a foreigner reacts considering I don't know many people in the area who go willingly to Thanet. I always found it so depressing. This is actually a bit out of date, you see the photo shows dreamland before their scenic railway roller-coaster broke down. Shocking as it may seem I've always been partial to a week in Brugges( I hope I spelt it right).
  • prosperity66 Jan 9, 2010 @ 7:21 am | delete
That's what I like with Broadstairs: it's like an old fashioned resort. I feel the same regarding the Belgian Coast: don't like it really because of too many modern skyscrapers, nothing remains from the early buildings that had a lot of charm! By the way, you live in a splendid town! How lucky you are!
  • prosperity66 Jan 8, 2010 @ 7:10 pm | delete
Thank you so much for both congratulations and blessing!

Your son is precious and looked like he was really enjoying Kent. I have never been but maybe one day I will get there. Until then I will just keep coming back to this lens and visiting. Great work. Congratulations on all your blessings, your great ranking and your LotD. I am sprinkling a little left over Angel Dust here, too. I noticed that I still had some powers left so will use them before they disappear.

Our family used to go on holiday in the 1960's just around the corner from Broadstairs at Dumpton Gap. Broadstairs was too posh for us! Lots of memories of digging pools and rivers on the beach for the sea to fill up, dangling my sister's doll over the edge of the prom into the water, and having tea in the "chalet".
  • prosperity66 Nov 25, 2009 @ 1:33 am | delete
How fantastic are holidays in this area! Dumpton's just before arriving at Broadstairs coming from Ramsgate, I think...
  • KathyMcGraw Nov 24, 2009 @ 11:05 am | delete
I have never been to England, but through your trip I had a wonderful time. I might just have to book a trip there next time I go to Europe, and this gives me an idea of what to see. Oh, and I agree, your pictures sure show a little boy having a great time, no matter what he says now........
