Family Mediation Services

In the UK family mediation is the process that divorcing or divorces couples attend in order to sort out issues without the need to go to court.

A qualified family mediator will listen to the issues and concerns of both parties before offering impartial advice. This is the major difference as they are not working for one or other of the parties as a solicitor would. The aim is for the parties themselves to arrive at the conclusions and solutions for the issues. A mediator may make suggestions but will never tell either party what to do.

The advantages of family mediation are that the open up the line of communication between parents in a positive and controlled way, with each side working towards the solution that they can both feel that they own.

It is also quicker, cheaper and far less confrontational that a court hearing.
