Famous Quotations
Sir Winston Churchill once said, "It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations. Bartlett's Familiar Quotations is an admirable work, and I studied it intently. The quotations when engraved upon the memory give you good thoughts. They also make you anxious to read the authors and look for more."
Quotes, parables, sayings, proverbs, and other phrases often condense a lot of wisdom and experience into one or two sentences.
I enjoy reading good quotations made by famous - and not so famous - people. As Winston Churchill observed, a good quote has often led me to read books by, and about, the people whose quotes I had read.
I have a copy of Bartlett's Familiar Quotations that is dog-earred, heavily underlined and highlighted. I've had this book for a couple of decades and alway find something new and interesting when I have a few minutes to look through it.

About Famous Quotations
I take no credit for these quotes; I just want to share them.
My goal is not to present deeply researched, completely historically accurate quotes. I try to find quotes that were made by the people to whom they are attributed, but there may be mistakes and misquotes. If you are researching a person or a particular quote, you should alway go to the source material and verify it for yourself.
