I have known Jacob Bogatin for fifteen years now. Jacob Bogatin is my friend and my boss. Moreover, Jacob Bogatin has been well known in the Russian community in Philadelphia as a remarkable and ambitious entrepreneur and a charming person. Jacob Bogatin also has significant strength and a great business vision. As a very powerful and charismatic person, Jacob Bogatin has the potential to light up people around him. Jacob Bogatin could easily turn into a country leader in the manners that he inspires people around. The power to motivate and encourage others is a great gift. I consider Jacob Bogatin a genius in the way that he does everything. Furthermore, I know a lot of talented people, but "talent is a flame; genius is a fire" as Bern Williams said. Jacob Bogatin is like a magnetic pull which attracts ambience. It started with magnets many years ago in Russia, Jacob Bogatin was inspired by a Russian (Jewish) physicist Lev Landau, who is considered one of the top theorists of all time in science. Similarly to his idol, Jacob Bogatin wanted to study theoretical physics. Jacob Bogatin was especially interested in magnetism and magnets. According to Wikipedia, in physics, "magnetism is one of the phenomena by which materials exert attractive or repulsive forces on other materials". In 1973 Jacob Bogatin invented the depence between rare earth metal and cobalt alloy. The young fellow became a doctor of philosophy at the age of twenty six. Jacob Bogatin was the youngest scientist in his hometown who ever received such a title. In 1980, Soviet Union politics did not allow any ethnic minority to be in science. It was virtually impossible for a Jew to become a doctor of philosophy. Therefore, at the age of twenty six he fascinated the science world in Russia by showing that talent and hard work could break Soviet Policies. This is the first reason why I admire him.

The second reason that astonished my opinion about Jacob Bogatin is his great business vision. He moved to the USA in 1986 with his family and sisters. Jacob Bogatin found a financially stable job, owing to his science reputation among physicists in America. In three years he became a successful manager at a huge magnet factory. He bought a nice house, a brand new car, and had a confidence into the future. Anybody could be happy, but not Jacob Bogatin . He felt that he does not want to be a supervising scientist anymore. He decided to be a businessman. He opened a magnetic company in 1995. He sold it later on to a bigger company. Today, Jacob Bogatin has a diagnostic and oncology center. In addition, Jacob Bogatin runs a doctor's office, and a premier Russian glossy publication called The Russian Health Magazine.

The last important reason, why I have such high regards for Jacob Bogatin my boss is the way he helps people. From just a simple donation to helping new immigrants, Jacob Bogatin generosity does not have a limit. Jacob Bogatin absolutely loves to support the community in small and big projects: as a sponsor of the Russian soccer team in USA, and as a fund raiser for the Jewish Theater of Music in Philadelphia. Furthermore, for all new Russian immigrants coming to Philadelphia he was buying "a computer set" which consisted of a computer table, a small computer, and a simple fax machine. When I asked him why he is doing that, he answered: "I agree that a refrigerator filled with food is important; as well as furniture, but you need a computer to type your resume and a fax to send it. When you have a job, you will buy food and furnishings yourself.

Those are only three motives that I admire about Jacob Bogatin's personality. Since, every year he desires for something different: to flight a jet, to jump from a parachute, or to establish a new healthcare system. As famous French writer La Rochefoucauld said: "To achieve greatness one should live as if they will never die". That is just the way Jacob Bogatin lives.
