Planning A Family Reunion
Ranked #7,922 in Relationships & Family, #775,848 overall
It is time to plan a family reunion
Some families get together once a year, some families get together once in a blue moon. (If you want to know more about a blue moon there is a link at the bottom) More often than not, we wait until it is too late and only get together at weddings and funerals.
So to borrow a line from a famous advertiser, "just do it!" It is time to get organized and it is your turn. If you can team up with another family member that is great but don't wait for them to ask you.

Steps in planning a reunion
1. Decide on the date of the event. You can't make everyone happy so don't try. Figure out who is the most important person to have there and coordinate their schedule with yours. You are the one giving up your time to plan the event so make to convienient for you. if there is a grandparent, oldest surviving member or a family favorite who must attend work with their date. If someone complains they can plan the next event.
2. Decide on the place. It can be at your house, a family homestead, park, restaurant, hotel or a planned destination.
3. Get to word out to everyone as early as possible to get it on their calendars. Let people know if there are costs involved. Let them know about deadlines and restrictions. Do you have a big place and all are welcome to invite anyone we forgot or is it restricted to adults only. This is a time to share family, so if you have an adult dinner plan another event for the kids to get to know their family.
4. Have fun, don't forget to bring pictures to share - Happy Memories!
5. Bring a camera (still camera and video camera with extra tapes) this is a great time to capture all those great stories.
6. After all is over, share your memories. If you made a tape, make copies for others. Photos may be turned into book in a number of ways - scrapbooks or published memories.
7. Start planning all over again! Every year, every other year or every ten years - make a plan and follow through.
