Fancy Up the Old PT Cruiser

I first saw the PT Cruiser on TV in early 2000, just about a month before they came out. I was freaking out to find a way to get enough money for one. Back then eBay was very good to people and I was doing quite well.

The first PT cruiser I saw was at a nearby Walmart. I had to go talk to the guy. He had like the 16th one made or so. It was that brownish grey with ghost fames. PT John he called himself, ad he had started a PT Cruiser Club

Later I found an ad in the paper for one of the gold ones at a dealership. They had only made a few at that point and I wanted to see it.

I was ready to get a car, since I had been driving a 67 Chevy wagon for many years. But my credit wasn't good enough, so I ended up with a Neon, and then 3 other PT Cruisers. Just a car dealership fiasco, and huge horrible story for another time.

After years I finally ended up with a blue PT like I wanted in the first place. I found vinyl decals that look like liquid chrome flames.

Eventually I want one that is hot metallic pink with chameleon flames and lots of chrome.

Depending on where you live, it can be hard to find a great flame artist, or one that will do special colors. Some of the paints are not allowed with in some city's limits.

Plus affording a fancy paint job is a whole different story. Personally I could do the flames myself, but I don't have the garage or equipment needed to put on quality paint. So I ended up just ordering flames off the internet.

It took me a while to get the gutts to do it! The people I ordered the decals from also had some spray that helps you reposition the decals till you get it right. Still it was pretty scary!

They look nice I get lots of compliments.

But I get pulled over quite a bit. The cops must think I'm a kid at first because of the flames, LOL

This is a key chain my best friend Micah gave me when I first mentioned wanting a PT Cruiser. I had one that color for a short time.

It's nice for people to have items around the house of things they like. It even helps with keeping your mind of the goal. Like if you want a Bumble Bee Limited Edition Camaro, then it helps to have some of those around. But keep in mind that if you just say you want the car with out saying specifically to yourself that you want a real one, you will just end up with a bunch of toys. Like I have a whole bunch of XKE Jaguar toys and models. LOL
