In 2001, the video game Final Fantasy X put Playstation 2 on the map with great graphics, well-developed backstory and characters, elaborate plot, a complex world and mythology, and a good script. Sometimes the voice acting in the dubbed version is painful; nonetheless, it raised the bar for gaming.
I've played it often enough to wear out my copy and buy a replacement. I'd heard of a DVD version that had the original Japanese voices with English subtitles, and when I saw (what I thought was) a copy for sale on eBay, I grabbed it!
Unfortunately, the subtitles are laughably mistranslated. I assume this must be bad fansub, because I can't imagine Square throwing out the original game's perfectly comprehensible English script for a hack job! At first I was annoyed, but after laughing until my eyes teared up I've decided that it's a keeper.
To those who don't know FFX... every single personal and place name below is wrong. Some are just misspellings, but most are completely random. For example, Kimahri, the big blue guy who fills the same role as Chewbacca, has been renamed "Christopher."
Now sit back, move beverages away from the keyboard, and welcome to...

Please keep comments family-friendly! If you have a link to a good Final Fantasy X site, that's fine, but other solicitations will be devoured by my pet Spampire.
