What to name my fantasy team?
Your entire fantasy season depends on this crucial decision. It determines whether you will be feared, respected or laughed at by other players. Don't screw it up.
Seriously, it's not that big of a deal. This guide offers ideas to help you pick a great name for your fantasy team or league. Many of the examples are from fantasy football but these ideas can be used to name teams in fantasy baseball, hockey, basketball, soccer or any fantasy sport...even fantasy golf.
What makes a good team name?
Team names can instill fear in your opponents, make them laugh or just ask "what is this dude on?".A team name should sound good when used in smack talk.
Examples:
1. "You don't have a prayer against team name."
2. "team name is going to dominate this league."
Remember, it's your team so have fun naming it. The name doesn't even have to make sense and you can always change it later. Some people change their team name every week to trash talk their opponent.
Real Sports Teams
If you want to be more creative, change the name up a little with similar words. For example, there's a guy in one of my leagues who is a Detroit Lions fan so he names his fantasy team "Motorcity Maulers".
You can also name it after your favorite team's fans like "Raider Nation" or a team slogan like "Fear The Turtle".
Songs & Bands
Some example ideas:
Sports Phrases & Quotes
Examples:
"Just give me the damn ball"
"He hate me"
"They are who we thought they were"
Movies & TV Shows
Here are a few movie title ideas:
Current Events and Slang
Lots of fantasy football teams used a name like "Vick's Dog Sitting Service" last season. "Favre's Flip Floppers" could be a good one for 2009.
Slang words or phrases are good, too. "Pimp My Team" for example.
Your Own Name or Nickname
Examples:
"Frank's Fury"
"Craig's Crew"
"Matt's Masters of Mayhem"
"Rover's Racetrack Raiders"
Where Are You From?
Use your nationality or location
You can also use your city, street or neighborhood in your team same. Some examples include "Pine Street Punks", "Boston Bruisers" or "South Street Crew".
Girl Team Names
Any of the above ideas will work for a girl's team. But if you really want to have fun, pick something that reminds the guys they are getting whooped by a girlKira suggested "Victorious Secret" in the comments below, that's a great chick team name!
