Far Cry 2 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. Crytek, developers of the original game, were not involved in the development of Far Cry 2. Last year, it was announced that in addition to Microsoft Windows, Far Cry 2 would also be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Far Cry 2 features completely new characters and setting, as well as a new style of gameplay that has been dubbed "more realistic". The game takes place in a fictional modern-day Central African nation in a state of anarchy and civil war. The player takes control of a mercenary on a lengthy journey to locate and assassinate "The Jackal," a notorious arms dealer.

Gameplay is open-ended, with the player being able to ally with anyone he/she chooses and to progress through the game world and the missions as he sees fit, resulting in a sandbox style of gameplay. (read all)

For Far Cry 2, Ubisoft's Montreal studios took over the development of the game using their own Dunia engine. This game engine has been designed for use with the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 platforms. The word Dunia means "world", "earth" or "living" in the Persian Language. Dunia offers a number of impressive features like destructible environments, dynamic weather, dynamic fire propagation, full day/night cycles, and many others.

Farcry 2, I can say is amazing! I would give it a score of 9/10 on both games!

This game is a work of art. Best game I've played on the Xbox 360, and I've pretty much played them all. If you're looking to just blast through it in a week just to finish it, then yes, you might get sick of it and think it's too repetitive. But playing the game in that manner would be about as smart as taking a really fine whiskey and just chugging it all in one gulp, instead of savoring it.

A huge African playground, chock full of explosions

Even though it looks like an first-person-shooter, Far Cry 2 is really more like a role-playing-game. You don't get nonstop action; you get a world to explore and move around in, and then as you go on missions, you run across some bits of action, a nod to GTA4. For the most part, it's the environment and the interactivity of it that is interesting. Patient players may enjoy it, but if you're looking to blow stuff up right away, you may be disappointed.

Far Cry 2 hits the ground running, setting you after a mysterious arms dealer, dropping you between two warring factions, granting you access to a brimming arsenal of guns, grenades and other baddie-blasting goodies, and giving you malaria (gee, thanks Far Cry 2!) I can't wait for this game, but I'm having a hard time deciding which system to get it for PS3 or 360 or PC?
