The Fargo Street Fair July 19-21, 2012

The Fargo Street Fair is my favorite thing to do in Fargo.

I probably shouldn't tell you this, but when I was planning my vacation earlier, I looked up the dates of the Street Fair to make sure I wouldn't be gone during it.

It's that much fun!

The Fargo Street Fair is open:

Thursday, July 19, 2012 (10:00am - 9:00pm)
Friday, July 20, 2012 (10:00am - 9:00pm)
Saturday, July 21, 2012 (10:00am - 5:00pm)

and it's located up and down Broadway St. in Fargo, ND.

The hospitality and Street Fair office is located at 300 Broadway.

Did I mention that it's North Dakota's largest free outdoor event?

Enjoy!

2010 Street Fair Review

I was really excited when we got to the Street Fair yesterday. The day was warm and windy, and even though I wore sunblock, I got a little burned in the 4 hours we were there - so wear sunblock :-)

Since I have a little one, I got stuff for her - a beautiful Toddler tutu for her 1st birthday party for $22, and a rainbow stacker/puzzle for $12, and a cute little green toy car for her for $4.

She'll love them, I'm sure, and I actually looked up the price of the rainbow stacker I've been stalking on Etsy, so I'd know a good deal if I saw one.

My husband was very impressed with his favorite potters - they're the one with the Face Mugs. They were actually making goblets while we were there, so that was fun to see.

We also learned why they started making Fairy houses, which was fun, since I thought that seemed out of place. The fairy houses are also much bigger than they look on Ebay.

All in all, we got some great deals, and we're very happy about it.

I hope you enjoy it if you go.

Original Artwork on Ebay

direct from the artist

One of the things that I love about the Street Fair is the variety of original art work available.

Its not only fun for me to see the art, but it's fun to be able to afford it ( :-) ) and to be able to talk to the artists.

If you can't make it to a local street fair or art show, this art direct from the artist is the next best thing.

The Fargo Street Fair Review

I really enjoy going to the Fargo Street Fair.

I like to browse, get ideas, and see what other people have made.

Since the Fargo Street Fair is a juried fair, with an application process, you can be sure that the vendors will be selling wonderful things that aren't mass produced.

There are also limited spots, so that means spaces are first come, first served.

In 2007 there were a lot more soap vendors than there were in 2008, and although I was a little disappointed in that, it was nice to see the variety.

I really love the art of Vincent Fleming, of Fleming Art and I always spend way too much time at his booth.

I also love looking at the other original paintings and ACEO's, at the handmade jewelry, yard decor, beads, children's clothes, shirts ...

There's so much that I can't even remember.

Of course, as with all street fairs, there is food.

You do normally have to wait in line to order, but the lines I've been in go pretty fast, and there is a large area of tables so you don't have to sit on the ground to eat unless it's packed.

I also love that there is a hand washing station on the street with the food vendors.

It's nice to be able to have clean hands before you eat, especially after you've been browsing and looking at all the wonderful stuff for sale.

It's especially nice to be able to wash your hands after you eat if you've got sticky hands!

The booths are set up with two rows of booths in the middle of the street, and more vendors on each side, so it's fairly easy to remember where you started, and where you left off, so you don't miss any of the booths.

Broadway is also lined with local stores, which usually have specials during the Street Fair.

We'll definitely be stopping by Josie's Corner for some cookies if we're not full by the time we get there.

Handmade Jewelry

I have so much fun looking at all of the jewelry at the Fargo Street Fair.

It's fun to get ideas for pieces that I will probably make, and to see how other people's creations and tastes differ from mine.
