Lawyer, Advocate, Giants fan!

Farley S. Tolpen is a San Francisco Bay Area based Lawyer who assists individuals and businesses with personal injury, civil litigation, real estate law, business setup, arbitration and mediation.

Mom's Wisdom

His career choice was influenced by his mom, who, when he told her he wanted to be president, said, "You have to be a lawyer first."

Farley Tolpen, the person.

Farley S. Tolpen is one of those rare individuals who knew from childhood what he wanted to be when he grew up: a lawyer. His role models? Characters on the '60s TV show, "The Bold Ones." Hal Holbrook, who played a senator and former lawyer; and Burl Ives who played a lawyer, both impressed the young Farley.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a BA in History and Political Science, Farley headed to the Bay Area where he earned his JD from the San Francisco Law School.

The Law Offices of Farley S. Tolpen opened its doors in 1985. With more than 20 years experience in San Francisco Bay Area civil litigation, business arbitration and mediation, you can trust Farley to take good care of your interests.

Most of his first time consultations take place on the phone. "Seven times out of 10 people don't need any further help. I can advise them and they don't need a lawyer," he says. If it's something as simple as having a problem with a neighbor, he refers them to free mediations with Marin Community Services.

A lawyer, according to Blacks Law Dictionary, is "a person learned in the law; as an attorney, counsel or solicitor; a person licensed to practice law."Henry Campbell Black, Black's Law Dictionary, 5th ed. (St. Paul: West Publishing Co., 1979), 799. Law is the system of rules of conduct established by the sovereign government of a society to correct wrongs, maintain stability, and deliver justice. Working as a lawyer involves the practical application of abstract legal theories and knowledge to solve specific individualized problems, or to advance the interests of those who retain (i.e., hire...
