Ok let's sit back and enjoy a game played by over 58 million people and counting.

FarmVille is a very social game which is why it's such a big hit on Facebook and MySpace.
The whole object of FarmVille is to build a virtual farm. We're going to plow our fields, plant our seeds and harvest our crops and we're going to try and do it better than everybody else. Sounds easy enough right? It actually takes a bit of strategy, careful planning, good timing and lots of friendly neighbors.

Keep in mind that just about everything you do will cost you, even plowing will cost you 15 coins so plan when you buy your seeds. Look at your choices and weigh out the options. Some seeds take longer to mature than others. For example: strawberries will give you 35 coins when harvested and take 4 hours to grow. pumpkins on the other hand will give you 68 coins but take 8 hours to grow. Wheat takes 3 days to ripen and watermelon is 4 days. So as you can see planning is everything.

If you watch your stats you can see just what each item you plant is costing or giving you in the coin and xp area.

When your crops are ready to harvest you must be there or they will wilt and die. Plan your time when planting if your not going to be able to get back to your farm for 8 hours you don't want to plant something that will be ready in 4. You get the idea... I believe there is an hour or so window in which to harvest before they die on you.

My personal favorite is the pumpkins, oh they are soooo cute!

Did you ever hear the term neighbor helping neighbor well in this game it's very true the more you have the better. Your neighbors can do favors for you and give you gifts such as a chicken or maybe a cherry tree and you can do the same for them and rack up more xp points. This in turn will help you to level up faster in the game. As you level up more and more things will become available to you.

When you go away your friends and neighbors can help you by taking care of your farm, fertilizing and keeping the crows away will maintain a healthy and prosporous crop.

Another great thing about having neighbors is you can learn from them. When you go to thier farms you can see how they have things laid out, which items they own or do not own and this will give you some ideas. I would suggest that you pick a mentor that has been playing for a while and is higher up in levels. This way your not learning from someone who is a newbie as you are.

What would a farm be without the critters, you can have cows, pigs, chickens and sheep just to name a few. Some can be bought where. others have to be given as gifts. These little guy's can also bring you some coin, eggs from the chickens and wool from the sheep.
Every now and then you might come across a stray on your farm and you can put him up for adoption in which case you'll earn a coin.
Now we need a barn and places for them to graze. Everytime you add a structure such as a house or a barn you gain xp points or experience points.

A lot of the farm animals are quite entertaining, not nessesarely profitable, but fun to have around.

Trees that you add to your farm can be profitable as well. An apple tree for instance will give you 5 xp points when you buy it. It can be purchased on level 1 and will take 3 days to ripen. In addition to profit, the trees will make your farm more realistic... after all all farms have trees on them! You can purchase a plum tree but not until level 2 and there are so many more to choose from.

Also trees continue to produce so it's not just a one shot deal. All these little things add up to some major coin!

Some of the trees can only be given as gifts which makes them extra special, for instance:

Fig can be given at level 5
Grapefruit level 11
Passion Fruit level 17
Pomegranate at level 23
and many more......

You can add vehicles such as a tractor to your farm which will most likely make life a bit easier but you'll have to wait until you get to level 12. Don't worry you'll get there. Keep in mind that even virtual vehicles need gas and yes that will cost you a few coins. Luckily you get 150 plots per 1 tank so at least you don't have to fill up every time you turn around.
At some point you may want to add a harvester and a seeder as well. Each of these vehicles will set you back 30000 coins.

Ok now for the fun stuff. Make your farm more realistic by adding a mailbox or a sandbox for the kids to play in. How about a windmill or a picnic table to eat at when you have your neighbors over for a barbaque. We can all sit by the pond and watch the fountain and just unwind from a hard day at work. In Farmville your virtual world can be as realistic as you want it to be. Weather you want a small farm or one thats totally decked out your're bound to have a great time playing this game. Where are you going to live? Take your pick a black or pink cottage prehaps? A farmhouse (which is my personal favorite) or maybe a villa. They're different sizes too just in case you have a couple of kids (hehe).
The cottage is only 4x8 but the Villa is10x12 and you guessed it you aquire more xp points when you purchase them.

Other buildings for the farm can be purchased too:

A tool shed, you need a place for all those tools don't you? How about a greenhouse or a grain silo?
Wow! This is going to be one cool farm!

When you really want to expand you can get into a Homestead, your're going to need 8 neighbors to get this and it will cost just $10,000 or we can jump past the Family Farm and the Big Family Farm and dive right into a Plantation. This will require 16 neighbors but it's 20x20, dig deep though this will set you back $75,000.

Farmviller's don't forget about sending your neighbors gifts! You will rewarded for your efforts!
There are a bunch of items in Farmville that can only be given as gifts, so there special.

There's a new way to farm these days and it's called co-op farming. This is great! You go into the co-op farming section on your menu and select it. The menu comes up and gives you different challenges to try. You choose the one you want and then go out and find some neighbors to help you out. The more hands you get the better your chances of accomplishing your task. If you do complete your mission within the allowed time frame the payout will be big!
An example would be the Frantic for Flowers mission, in which case you would be planting tulips. Your given 4 days, 3 hours to complete the task. If you do you'll get 904 coins and 1035 xp points. Pretty cool!

White Grapes: which you can get at level 29, they are worth 245 coins and 2 xp points
Purple Poppies: which you can get at level 38, they are worth 200 coins and 1 xp point
