The Farrah Phenomenon
Farrah's Jose Eber-designed hairstyle became an instant hit with women around the world, and her world-famous, red swimsuit poster graced the walls of teen boys and college dorms throughout the country. Designed and styled by the actress herself, the poster remains the best-selling of all time, surpassing even those of the legendary Betty Grable and the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders.
The actress hired photographer Bruce McBroom to do the shoot at her Bel Air, California home. For the back drop, McBroom used the now-famous woven, striped Indian blanket that was covering the seat of his '37 Chevy.
Farrah Fawcett Has Died
June 25, 2009
Farrah chronicled her drawn out and highly publicized struggle with cancer in a two-hour special, Farrah's Story, which aired May 15 on NBC. Alana Stewart assisted with the production of the documentary, which began when Farrah brought her camera to a routine follow-up visit with her doctor. Fatefully, it was on that very day she received the devastating news that her cancer had returned and was inoperable.

According to Farrah...
The reason that the all American boy prefers beauty to brains is that he can see better than he can think.
I am proud of what I have got and I need an audience.
The reason we're not together is over our different views on parenting. For Redmond, living with his dad was like being at Disneyland.
When you do bad things, bad things happen to you.
A Few Facts About Farrah

Farrah Fawcett was an American actress. She was a noted pop culture figure whose hairstyle was emulated by millions of young women, and a sex symbol for millions of young men in the 1970s and 1980s. She went on to become a critically accepted actress, appearing off-Broadway and in acclaimed television movies in challenging (The Burning Bed, Nazi Hunter: The Beate Klarsfeld Story, Poor Little Rich Girl: The Barbara Hutton Story, Margaret Bourke-White), and sometimes unsympathetic (Small Sacrifices) roles.
The late 1960s and early 1970s saw Fawcett doing commercials and TV guest spots. In April 1976, a poster company Pro Arts Inc., that had started out making anti-war posters, started to hear about a young up-and-coming beauty named Farrah Fawcett doing Wella Balsam shampoo commercials. They got in touch with her agent at the time, Rick Hersh, and arranged a photo shoot. Fawcett arranged to have Bruce McBroom, a freelance photographer with whom she had worked before, do the shoot. McBroom took the pictures at Farrah's poolside Bel Air, California home. For the back drop, McBroom used the worn, old Indian blanket covering his 1937 Chevrolet car seat.
On September 22, 1976, the first episode of Fawcett playing the character Jill Munroe in the TV series Charlie's Angels was aired. Around the same time, her swimsuit poster was released. It went on to sell a still-unrivaled 12 million copies and she became known for her tousled hair and bright smile. The hairstyle went on to become an international trend, with women sporting a "Farrah-Do" or "Farrah Hair" and the hairstyle was even spoofed in various media, including Redd Foxx's variety show on ABC and Dynamite magazine. Charlie's Angels went on to become a huge hit, but after just one year Fawcett left the show. As settlement to a lawsuit stemming from her early departure, Fawcett appeared three more times as a guest star in each of seasons three and four. Her character was eliminated entirely from the show by 1977. Cheryl Ladd (who portrayed Jill's younger sister Kris) joined the show during the interim.

God gave women intuition and femininity. Used properly, the combination easily jumbles the brain of any man I've ever met.

A Few Facts About Charlie's Angels
Courtesy of Wikipedia
Charlie's Angels is a television series about three women who work for a private investigation agency, and is one of the first shows to showcase women in roles traditionally reserved for men. The series was broadcast on the ABC Television Network from 1976 to 1981 and was one of the most successful series of the 1970s. Charlie's Angels was created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts and produced by Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg. In pre-production, the original proposed title was The Alley Cats.
Three women, the Angels, (originally Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett-Majors, and Jaclyn Smith) graduated from the police academy only to be assigned such duties as handling switch boards and traffic. They quit and were hired to work for the Charles Townsend Agency as private investigators. Their boss, Charlie (voiced by John Forsythe), is never seen full face - in some episodes he is shown from the rear only (where the viewer only sees the back of his head and his arms) talking through a phone while surrounded by beautiful women - assigning cases to the Angels and his liaison, Bosley (played by David Doyle), via a speaker phone.
Charlie's Angels is episodic in nature, as opposed to serial, thus each episode shows the Angels finding themselves in new situations in which they would go undercover to investigate. The undercover aspect of the show creates much of the plot interest and tension. In the early seasons of the show, the Angels, under their assumed identities, use a combination of sexual wiles and knowledge learned for the situation in which they are being placed, but by the third and fourth seasons, the writing has a tendency to stray from the sex appeal and focus more on the case at hand.
