Sewing Knitting and Crochet Patterns for Barbie, Ken, Midge and More
While thumbing through some old magazines not long ago I came upon some wonderful old fashion doll patterns to sew, knit and crochet. Patterns for dolls like Barbie, Ken, Midge and more. It brought back great memories of my first Barbie doll. What I would give to have taken such good care of her that I had her now! She didn't have the long blond hair that the first Barbies did, but a red "bouffant" hairdo. I remember how much work it was to get her dressed in those small cloths, and those tiny plastic shoes. But it was good feminine fun.
I hope you'll enjoy looking at the patterns and information here, or just looking back in time and remembering. Barbie and other vintage fashion dolls like her are still loved and collected by many, as are the vintage fashion doll patterns. Most of the patterns that I have come across are by Simplicity, McCalls, or found in magazines, old and new. There are even printable online doll patterns. The old doll patterns are still in demand...and still very available if you know where to look.

My first fashion doll was a Barbie, not the very first Barbie (I was around for the first though) but one shortly after with red hair. I remember having a wardrobe to hang her cloths on tiny hangers and to store her tiny shoes and tiny jewelry. That was my only fashion doll, I tended to be a tom-boy, so it was good for me to have this "feminine touch" in my life.

- I have been pondering the idea of making some fairy dolls.. pondering only as I am basically a fine artist (sculpture and painting) but I love dolls! It is all so dear to think back on pretend and pulling those memories to today. Your lens is fresh and has some cool ideas that add to my pondering. Happy day and thank you, Kathy

- Fabulous lens! I love making doll clothes! My mother used to make most of my Barbie's clothes. She even made them faux mink stoles. My Barbies wardrobe was the envy of all the little neighborhood girls :)

- What a special mother you had! I actually haven't tried making them...it seems like working at such a small scale would be hard, and takes some very gifted hands:-) But love looking at old things. A few years back I came upon a large batch of old patterns that sold nicely on eBay.
