Modern fashion clothes was inspired from the old fashion. For those who do not appreciate renaissance dresses may perhaps don't understand on how it has affect our modern fashion sense.
Fact is, people knew how to dress well even from the 16th century. The existence of the old paintings and portraits of both men and women, young and old, rich and poor from the past that depicts their life clearly paints the truth that they where dressed in clothes that looked becoming on to them. Not all people enjoyed the status of being rich thus not all of them had the ability to acquire costly outfits. And yet, they maintained a distinct fashion sense and no matter how poor or rich they were then, they were still able to dress nicely. Social status is one factor I consider that had always come into play in dressing up.
If you remember it correctly, the men and women of the renaissance era were known to dress according to their wealth, importance in society and their social status. Thus, certain fabrics and colours where restricted to the poor as they were made widely available to the rich.
Exactly how does this fall into the tableau?
Can you see around you that almost all of our outfits denotes a mirror of our own social status, intentionally or unintentionally, much more of our fortune? The full picture shows that businessmen wear tux and socialities wear cocktail dresses while ordinary men and women are fond of wearing simply shirts and pants, how can you? describe this?
Gold plated necklaces and diamond studded earrings are consciously worn by the rich for everybody to see, can you try to be vigilant and observe that? Well for me, that's not a coincidence.
I conclude that our fashion now is a likeness of what we had before- the significance was given to people who are or were rich than the others. Sure, it maybe because 'it looks better' but far more than that, is it possible that these are all because of tradition?
