Much of today's fashion was based from the clothes before according to one fan fashion. Unexcited fan fashion people concerning renaissance dresses do not know about its significance that it has effect today's fashion.
Fact is, people knew how to dress well even from the 16th century. Both men and women, young and old, rich and poor where covered in good clothes that suits on them as shown in old paintings and portraits before that has also depicted their way of life back then. Not all people enjoyed the status of being rich thus not all of them had the ability to acquire costly outfits. However, being poor and rich was not a hindrance to the old civilization before to display their good looking dresses so perfectly worn by these people who had maintained a distinct fashion sense. Another factor that I believe had always come into play in dressing up is social status.
Significance in the society and social reputation has something to do with what garments should be worn for men and women in accordance with their wealth. Therefore, rich people acquires fine material of clothing because it is made widely available for them.
But how does this all come into play?
Can you see around you that almost all of our outfits denotes a mirror of our own social status, intentionally or unintentionally, much more of our fortune? Business men wear tux and socialities wear cocktail dresses while ordinary men and women are fitted in the use of shirts and pants, why is this so?
I guess, if you are intense in observing, then you will know why well off individuals intentionally exhibit their diamond studded earrings and gold plated necklaces to let everybody see? It's absolutely not a coincidence.
I strongly believe that our fashion in today's world is a mirror of what was then- of what importance was given to people who are or were wealthier than others. Sure, it maybe because 'it looks better' but far more than that, is it possible that these are all because of tradition?
