Dress Warm Look Cute

Winter clothing can look sleek and fashionable, while still being warm and functional at the same time. Winter clothing is necessary as cold can really hurt, but it doesn't break your bank if you choose wisely to stock up your winter essentials to keep you warm.

Dressed right with warm insulating clothes, winter time can be such a fun season. You can enjoy all outdoor activities without worrying about the cold. Isn't it great to go sledding, skiing, a ride with a snowmobile, and a walk in winter wonderland or just having fun with a snowball fight? To enjoy all those outdoor activities during the long winter month it's important to have the right clothing to protect your body.

Cover yourself from head to toe with warm underwear, sweaters, gloves and warm boots or shoes. Another great thing are heat warmers. In sport shops you can get disposable heat warmers for hands and toes. It might be handy to carry an extra set in your purse, as these warmers don't work anymore if they get wet.

For example: A warm breathable and wind-resistant coat preferably filled with real goose feathers do a great job to keep your body cozy warm.

Dress Smart - Dress In Layers

The best way to stay warm in the cold, is to dress in lots of layers. Buy winter clothes and shoes which are 1 or 2 sizes bigger than your regular size. It gives you room to dress in layers and you still feel comfortable and not tight. It also allows you to remove layers if you get to hot.
Wear all those layers loose and keep it dry, with too tight clothes the air cannot circulate and you feel wet and cold quickly.

1. Remember, the inner layer of clothes wicks moisture away from your body (thermal underwear is just perfect)

2. With the middle layer you embed the body heat to keep you warm

3. The outer layer has the function to protect against water and wind. It should be waterproof and windproof to provide maximum protection from the cold

Wool is warmer than fleece! It has been proven that Merino wool doesn't cause the allergic reaction like itchiness as regular wool does to sensitive skin. The best winter fabrics are cashmere, wool, fleece and silk. Do not wear cotton, its great in the summer but not in the winter time!

Keep in mind that warm clothing protects you from hypothermia and frostbite, both can lead to disability or even death!

Think about it:

Warm winter clothing is an investment in your safety and quality is always a bit more pricy. Choose your winter fashion clothes essentials carefully and make sure you wear it faithfully.

When The Temperatures Turn Frigid

Are you aware of the difference between a coat and a short jacket? As a Jacket does not cover your hips and you can't really wear it over thick pullovers and sweaters - it won't keep you warm when it gets freezing cold. A long thick coat is a must to stay warm and cozy.

If you need a really warm coat, I suggest take one that has a thin layer of goose down.

Know The Symtoms Of Hypothermia and Frostbites

What To Do!

Recognize symptoms of cold weather illnesses such as frostbite and hypothermia:

Hypothermia: symptoms include slurred speech, sluggishness, confusion, dizziness, shallow breathing, unusual behavior, and slow, irregular heartbeat.

Frostbite: symptoms include gray, white or yellow skin discoloration, numbness, and waxy feeling skin.

1. If you suspect a person is suffering from frostbite or hypothermia, bring him or her someplace warm and seek medical help immediately or call 911.

2. If medical help is unavailable, re-warm the person, starting at the core of their body.

3. Warming arms and legs first can increase circulation of cold blood to the heart, which can lead to heart failure. Use a blanket, or if necessary, your own body heat to warm the person.

4. Do not give a person suffering frostbite or hypothermia alcohol or caffeine, both of which can worsen the condition. Instead, give the patient a cup of warm broth.
