What's Hot This Season
The most important thing in fashion is to take what is on the catwalks and adapt it to your own style, and to the occasion. An easy and cost effective way to do this is with jewellery. Here are some hints and tips to accenting your own style with this seasons trends.
What To Wear and How To Wear It
If you have seen a particular colour on the catwalk that you like but feel is too overpowering for you then take it and add it to your neutrals in the form of jewellery. Purple and turquoise are the two of the most widely seen colours this season so go for a turquoise broach instead of the full coloured dress or a set of matching earrings and necklace.
For a cocktail party, where the cocktail dress can be your opportunity to take advantage of the bold colours. Turquoise suits all skin tones, purple can be used in any shade this season so pick on to suit you. To stand out from the crowd chili red or a bold flower pattern dress.
When accessorizing go for a simple, elegant chocker and matching earrings. Or a broach and cocktail ring. The important thing here is to let the dress shine on its own, keep the jewellery understated.
The classic dress, retro forties/fifties glamour is for the black tie do. Either tone down a bright dress with clear crystal or add a splash of colour to a black or neutral dress. Go for the matching set of jewellery to create a complete film star look.
The white tie occasion is your chance to go for all out glitz and glamour. Again the complete jewellery set and vintage fashion works well. Hair should be pinned up and extra long earrings worn for elegance. A large ring and large pendant to add sparkle.
When wearing a V-neck mirror this with a V or Y shaped necklace, a chocker is also elegant or, if not wearing a necklace a broach at the base of the V will add colour or sparkle.
A strapless dress provides a blanc canvass for a large necklace which can be bold or glitzy or for long chandelier earrings. Pick up the detail with a crystal bracelet or broach.
A short chocker or very long necklace suits a square neckline and again long earrings. Thin straps can be matched with delicate jewellery.
A round neck suits a large broach or extra long necklace. Go for lady-like chic especially with a polo neck, a round pearl necklace will match the shape beautifully.
Lastly, for an asymmetric neckline don't wear a necklace at all, instead go for a bold pair of earrings or bracelet.

Fashion Style Tips for Women: Accessorizing
The great thing about this season is that accessories are huge leaving people free to keep their existing wardrobe and buy only a few small items to refresh it. Whatever accessory you are comfortable wearing is the one to go for because the list of fashionable items it endless: jewellery, hats, scarves, wraps, watches, belts, gloves, bandanas, headbands, gloves, boots, bags and hair ties with jewels.
The key to accessorising is to draw attention to your best features. In the colder months when low cut tops are left in the wardrobe, the eye can still be drawn to cleavage by wearing a V-shaped medium length necklace, or layering several different lengths of necklace. Large natural beads such as wooden or stone beads are great for earthy autumn. Or contrast away from earthy naturals with mettalics. To enlarge the bust line go for a jewelled necklace.
Earrings draw attention to your face, long dangly earrings accentuate the length of your neck. Bracelets complete an outfit. Belts highlight curvaceous hips and a great pair knee high boots elongate the legs. A chocker creates a sexy collar bone. Work with your own body and place jewellery where it will draw the eye.
For the rock look a flash of animal print on a belt or a scarf, black nail polish or skull earrings. The skull motif, again on a scarf or belt has the same effect. Don't wear all these things at once and end up looking like a nightmare, the rock look is strong enough to come through with one or two small pieces.
The metallic look is perhaps easiest to achieve with jewellery, choose a colour which suits you and your existing wardrobe from gold, silver, bronze and copper. There are many bags and shoes in these colours available at the moment. For a bold statement red and gold is great, a cooler look silver and purple, have fun and mix your colours.
In contrast to these two harder looks the romantic look is about feminine softness. You can mix in the strong colours from the rock look but with ruffles or lace of embroidery. A large loose ribbon bow, oversized bag or sexy feminine boots. Long leather gloves also appear this season.
Jewellery that is big this season feature pearls, metallics, naturals (eg, wood, shell), heart shapes, discs, hoops, exaggerated facets on stones, bold colours and large natural statements such as butterflies and bold florals.
Most importantly have fun. You can always take something and make your own statement with it. Wear a long necklace as a belt, a scarf round your wrist, brooches as a chocker on a ribbon. Contrast fine jewellery with casual clothes.
Always remember that a small statement offset with neutrals is more effective than many bold statements which will clash and be confusing. Less is more.
Make Up Trends For Autumn Winter 2007/08
This season sees make up that is as bold as you imagination, or as sophisticated as black and white movie stars. Which ever look you are going for a few basic rules apply. Leave the summer bronze and light pinks behind and bring on the bold and the confident winter colours. Bases are nude and matte, cheeks are pale peach or a matte pink, lips are red or plump coloured gloss and eyes are smoky or colourful. A little powder to set the look but not too much. Brows are prominent this season. Keep a natural shape to them and darken their effect with a brow filler, stronger than pencils these come in wax, gel or cream alternatives. For lighter haired people keep to a light medium brown, darker haired people have the option of dark brown.
Smokey grey eyes.
Not black but just as sophisticated this season sees grey eyes. This look is best achieved with four tones but three will do just as well. To ensure you get matching tones go for one of the many palettes on the market. The tones range from charcoal to pale grey highlighter.
The lighter base shade is applied to the entire lid. The darker base is added through the crease. The darkest tone is kept at the outer corner and the brow line is highlighted, as is the centre of the lid to open the eye. Blend well.
A grey liner works well, black is bolder depending on your look, do the upper and lower lash lines, smudge to soften. If you choose add a little of the second lightest tone under the eye.
Cats Eyes
For a bold look choose a liquid or gel liner, kohl works for a more subtle effect, apply as close as possible to the upper lash line. Create the cat effect by applying the shadow in an upward sweeping motion away from the eyes then complete the rest of the lid. Apply lots of mascara.
Bold Colours
This season is seeing a fantastic range of bright colours that are subtle metallics. The choice of colour is endless but again go for a pallet if you are unsure of matching the tones. For a bolder look experiment with multiple colours on the eyes. Remember the golden rule that if you have bright eyes then less on the lips and vice versa.
This is classic fro the rock chick look, non-traditional colours with thin liquid liner, heavy brows, matte skin so as not to clash with the colour and paler lips.
Rock chick look can also be achieved without the bold colours by focusing on the eyes with grey tones and pink lips.
Red Lips
The retro chic look cries out red lips. With many products on the market choose a red to match your colouring. Glossy red is difficult to maintain but makes the strongest statement. To keep precision in the look go for a red close to your natural colour so that when it wears away it will not appear messy and smudged. Also lip liner works well with this look. If going for the red lips keep the rest of your make up minimal.
Fashion Trends For Women Accessories: Handbags
Day bags. This season sees the quirky twist of the oversize bag. If you can carry this off (excuse the pun) then go for it, if the bulky bag is too much for you then the oversize clutch bag can give daywear a glamorous lift. Faux fur is also an alternative to the bulky bag whilst giving you that must have luxurious style. Bags are no exception to the other trends of the season, metallics, vivid colours especially purples and animal print are all represented on the catwalks.
The contrast of simple and extravagant does not bypass bags either, where casual styles are accented with luxurious detail. Chain is a big look this season, chain handles or just as decoration on the bag itself, glitzy cabochon beads are adorning the corners of neutral coloured bags, distressed leather is being given new life with studs and fabrics are mixing different textures together for a new kind of love. For the retro look bead bags with trailing fringes. If going for the bold colour look then stick to the block of colour with a bag matching the outfit.
Evening bags. There is a renewed trend for the clutch bag, again in metallics, colours and animal print. The minaudiere, or tiny bag is also a trend and can be matched perfectly with metallic ballerina shoes.
If the clutch bag is not for you then shoulder bags with chain strap can be carried leaving your two hands free. Or for carrying overnight things there are some great barrel bags available in this seasons colour trends.
