Tips on How to Lose Those Extra, Unwanted Pounds the Healthy Way.
1. Do Not Starve YourselfThe key to healthy weight loss is not to diet.
It may feel like you are losing those unwanted pounds on your thighs or that spare-tire around your belly by skipping meals, it may even make you feel happy. Just remember, this will not last long at all. Your body needs a sufficient source of energy and fuel and your body cannot tolerate being without it every day.
Skipping one or two meals a day causes your body to use up its stored calorie reserve instead of the fuel provided by meals. In the end, if you eat say one huge serving of food a day, it will all end up right at your problems areas. You won't lose weight and your fat will still be there in a month.
2. Start your day right.
Remember your mother always telling you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Guess what, she was actually right! Eating a healthy, nutritious breakfast to kick start your day will also benefit your metabolism and help to jump-start it.
The rest of the day, your body will be using the food you eat to burn fat.
3. Eat small, healthy meals frequently.
Eating five small meals a day instead of 3 big meals will help you to stay full and stave off the cravings you might have had otherwise. This will help prevent you from over-eating. Eating frequently throughout the day also boosts your metabolism to make your body burn calories faster.
4. Decide on how much weight you want to lose.
Make sure to set goals that are realistic. Don't set a goal to lose 30 or 40 pounds in 2 weeks, that's impossible to do in a healthy way. Keep your mindset as one of eat healthy to stay healthy.
Once you have found a weight loss plan that works for you, make sure to stick to it and follow it to the end. Make sure that you are following your own set of nutritional eating rules.
5. Drink lots of water.
Water helps your body get rid of wastes in your body. Your body needs sufficient water in order to burn fat. Water keeps your cells hydrated and healthy.
6. Avoid too much sugar.
Your meals should consists of lots of fruits and vegetables, rice or some pasta for the carb fix that you need, some bread, plus protein. One of the best sources of protein is seafood and other lean meat.
Of course, everyone has a sweet tooth. Indulging in sweets should be a once in a while thing and not an everyday thing. Keep it to once a week at the least. That way, you can keep from going insane and eating every sweet, soda, and pastry you see.
7. Watch your fat intake.
The main culprit of being overweight is NOT fat. You need fats in your diet in order to maintain your weight at a proper level.
Healthy fats do exist. Olive, peanut, and canola oil have healthy fats in them. Seafood such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel all have omega-3 fat which is good for the heart.
8. Exercise.
If you are only going a few blocks away from home, then leave your car behind. Walk, jog, bicycle, or skate to your destination instead of using your car. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. If you are too lazy to go to the gym, then using these activities will help you shed the pounds. If you keep these mundane activities up regularly, you will not even notice the fact that you are losing weight.
The important thing to remember is that is does not matter how much weight you plan or need to lose, it's that you set realistic goals for yourself.
Take your time when going about losing weight. You've shed 5 or 6 pounds already? Great! Now give yourself a little break and then go after those next 5 or 6 pounds.
You need to eat healthy, keep hydrated by drinking lots of water, get enough sleep, and exercise. Doing these things regularly and staying focused will give you a much higher chance of losing weight, improving your health, and resulting in a healthier you.
