Fast Bittorrent Downloads

1st: Install A BitTorrent Client

My Suggestion: uTorrent: (www.utorrent.com/download.php)

Why I suggest uTorrent:

- It is the fastest client
- It is easy to use (even for beginners)
- It uses very little memory
- It supports the most features
- It is easily customizable
- It is updated very often and its website
offers a lot of technical support if needed

2nd: Modify your client's settings

Once again uTorrent is the easiest option here

3rd: Forward your ports, aka: "port forwarding"

Might sound a bit technical, but it is pretty straight-forward

Forwarding ports means simply opening up ports so your bitTorrent client can access the internet fully.
The best resource for doing this is:

Once your at portforward.com, simply find the specific router you have, and the guide will let inform you of the rest.

Alternately, you can download search google for a program called "PFconfig" which is a program that lets you select your router from a list and it does the rest of the work, but I would recommend trying it manually first.

4th: Make sure Windows Firewall hasn't blocked your client program

uTorrent usually unblocks itself from Windows Firewall, but just in case

Windows Firewall can be a bit annoying sometimes but that is easily solved

5th: Optimize your TCP connections

simply put: Download efficiently and effectively

Just type in "TCP optimizer" in google and you will find this program. Its free and easy to use. Once you install and run it, it will give a list of you current settings, and all you have to do is click "optimized settings" and from then on your connection will be optimized.

After you have done all that, it is time to find the best torrents on the web

6th: Searching for Torrents ( faster torrents, with more resources )

My personal favorite site: www.youtorrent.com

When you are searching for torrents, you try to find the best ratio of seeds to leechers ( the more seeds the better; the less amount of leechers the better )

Example of slow torrent: seeds = 43 | leechers = 148

Example of Fast torrent: seeds = 217 | leechers = 18

And it is not only the greater number amount of seeds, it is the RATIO of seeds to leechers

Regardless, you will need a bittorrent search engine in order to find the torrents across the web and here is my top list ( as far as searching multiple sites at once )
