Fastest Wireless Router 2012

Ranked #236 in Computers & Electronics, #3,210 overall

I will shortly review some of the best new routers in - Fastest wireless router 2012

Choosing a wireless n router can be difficult, especially if you aren't great with technology and aren't sure how to compare products. When buying a router the main things one should look at is the router's reliability, ease of installation, tech support and of course the speed.

The problem when comparing speed is that different routers work well under different circumstances. To help you I have shortly reviewed 3 routers. One premium router that handles large networks well, a cheap router that is fast with smaller networks and then Apple's router that works well with Apple's devices like your iPad, iPod or iPhone.

Cisco-Linksys EA4500 v2 High-Performance Wireless-N Router

back routerThis is a dual-band router. This means data is transferred at two different frequencies, (2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz) allowing higher speeds for wireless networks and two separate levels of security. Security includes WPA and WPA2 protection, as well as a firewall.

A USB port, and media server allow you to stream media directly into any of a long list of compatible devices. This is truly a "smart" router if there ever was one. This router is great for families because parental control settings allow you to block web sites and setup different safety settings for different times of the day. This router is easy to setup when you use the software that comes with it.

The Cisco-Linksys EA4500 is also just plain better-looking than a lot of modems on the market. You won't want to hide this baby out of site under a desk, that's for sure.

This modem isn't cheap, at a price of $199.00, but it is the hands down winner for quality and performance.

Medialink - Wireless N Router - 802.11n

medialinkThe Medialink is fast enough to stream videos effortlessly. This router is easy to set up, and compatible with both PCs and Macs. This router comes with loads of security features: WPA and WPA2, WPS, WEP, TKIP, and AES with 64 and 128 bit encryption. A good firewall is standard, and this router works with several adaptors using 2.4 Ghz.

This router is unfortunately incompatibles with some modems, like the Hughesnet HN7000s, and the 900. Although you're unlikely to need it, their tech support is great. The router itself is fairly plain looking, and isn't the kind of device you'd really want on display.

This router isn't the best for handling large wireless networks and its range is on the small side, but that's why it's the best budget choice of 2012. At $79.99, or $49.99 on Amazon, this router is likely to do what you need without breaking the bank.

AirPort Extreme Base Station from Apple

Apple routerThis is want Mac users want and need if they'd like a fully integrated wireless network that contains Apple devices. The Airport Extreme Base Station is a dual-band wireless router supporting 802.11b/g and 802.11n.

Like many Apple products, the Airport Extreme Base Station is simple and intuitive to use. Most people can take it out of the package, plug it in, and get going in no time.

This router is fairly flexible in that it works with Macs, PCs, and a wide range of Apple products like Apple TV, the iPad, and the iPhone. It's also easy to use external hard drives thanks to 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports.

This router does not work well with the Linux operating system, and if you have a lot of devices to connect, you will find that 3 Ethernet ports may not be enough. Also, there is only one light on the router to indicate a problem, which makes it difficult to narrow down where the trouble lies. Despite these small drawbacks, the Airport Extreme Base Station is a great choice for users of Apple products.

I hope you found fastest wireless router 2012 useful.

personally i prefer netgear routers, but Cisco are just as good. Most corporate businesses choose cisco products to support there network infractsucture and there really good and reliable but they dont come cheap.

Even a long Ethernet cable should be faster than a wireless connection. O would get a new router.
