Lose Weight By Careful Fasting
Fasting for weight loss isn't just useful from a fat burning point of view but also has detox benefits.
Firstly let's define what we mean by fasting. For some people this means simply stopping eating altogether and consuming nothing but water for a period of time while others recommend consuming nothing but fresh fruit.
Let's Begin...
Fruit is not only tasty of course, and prevents you feeling ill from your hunger, but it also helps to line the stomach so reducing the chances of a stomach upset, with all the vitamins and goodness fruit contains, it is also a perfect opportunity to cleanse your body and remove as much of the built up rubbish it contains as possible.
Also, we need to consider how your body deals with starvation - which is of course what happens during fasting.
The human body is amazingly adaptable and if it senses a famine coming on due to lack of calories being consumed it starts to "batten down the hatches" so to speak and goes into survival mode.
Survival mode means your metabolism starts to slow and your body starts to stockpile as much fat as possible.
That means if you fast too extremely and for too long your body will start to adjust to the process and over time you will find the weight you lose begins to drop until quite often it evens out altogether.
What Works Better...
What's more, the fruit juice fasts for weight loss ensures the drop is noticeable enough to get results but not so much that your body goes into starvation mode and reacts badly to the experience.
Tying al this together, the plan I have found to work best when fasting for weight loss is to eat nothing but fruit - in terms of smoothies or fresh fruit - for 5-7 days straight. Eay pretty much as much as you feel you need to remain comfortable though don't gorge yourself on it. Drink only water or fruit smoothies.
No fruit is off limits when fasting for weight loss to enjoy yourself and try some new combinations.
Take light exercise each day while fasting. if you take it too far, exercise can prove detrimental to your health when going through something as extreme as fasting but a gentle walk or cycle ride for half an hour to an hour will do you good and help work the toxins out of your body.
Finally, at the end of the week, go back to eating a normal, yet low fat, low carb diet for at least another week before starting at the beginning again for more fasting if you want to do so.
