Try doing 1 push up and 1 sit up on the first day of your new exercise program, then on the next day do 2, then 3 the day after. Continue this until you can do no more, but the trick is this: you have to tell everyone what day you stopped on. So if you stop on day 10, you have to tell everyone you know that you couldn't do that 10th pushup and 10th situp. If you quit on day 300 however, that sounds far more impressive. It will ease you into a workout schedule and provide a layer of accountability.
