Fat Burning Exercises
Burn Maximum Fat With These Essential Exercises
If you are anything like me you don't want to be going to the gym 5 times a week to train for hours on end in a bid to lose fat and get in shape. We are all so busy in our lives that this kind of training routine is nonsensical unless you are training to be a bodybuilder or are a professional athlete.
Many people believe that in order to lose weight they have to exercise for hours on end or else they won't see worthwhile results and this often stops them from even beginning.
I'm telling you that it is perfectly possible to lose significant weight-loss results by simply working out 3-4 times per week for an hour each day if you utilize the following fat burning exercises that I am about to share with you. I know, because I've done it and I've been successful so you can do the same!
So lets get to it and check out my favourite fat burning exercises:
1. Interval Training
The best of the cardio fat burning exercises...
Short bursts of intense interval type training is hugely effective in altering the ratio of lean muscle mass to fat. During strenuous exercise, the rate of your metabolism rises about 15 times above the basal metabolic rate (BMR).Your metabolic rate rises even higher during intense interval work. When this happens your body is able to burn fat not just during exercise but also afterwards, your metabolic rate will stay high for as long as 24 hours post workout.
Increasing your metabolic rate not only encourages your body to burn up any calories you consume in your daily diet, but it also changes how your body deals with its chemistry, it tries to adjust by using up fat reserves when dietary calories aren't enough. Interval training is a phenomenal way to burn fat and is one of my most recommended fat burning exercises.
My current routine for interval training is as follows - I warm up for 5 minutes by jogging gently at 3/10 effort/intensity and follow with 1 minute of very high intensity sprinting at 9/10 effort/intensity, then 2 minutes 3/10 effort/intensity. I repeat this series for a total of 5 times before performing another slow jog to cool-down for 5 minutes.
I do this 2 times per week and vary the routine on 2 other days by adjusting the time periods. Now I don't recommend beginners starting on a routine like this, it is important to achieve a reasonable fitness level before attempting such a strenuous workout.
If you are a complete beginner start with a normal cardio routine and build up to an interval session. I like to use the jog/sprint method for my intervals but switching these with a cycle or elliptical routine is perfectly ok.
Turbulence Training is a fantastic program that incorporates excellent interval training routines and fat burning exercises that will help you seriously improve your muscle to fat ratio.
2. Weight Training
Fat burning exercises with weights...
If you want to lose fat fast and are looking for the best fat burning exercises to do so then weight training is imperative. Traditionally people have trained with weights to increase their power and injury resistance, but aside from these two important benefits the more lean muscle mass you have the more calories you burn even at rest.For every 1lb of lean muscle your body needs approximately an extra 50 calories per day to maintain it. Put simply this means that the more you increase muscle mass, the more fat your body is likely to burn throughout the day. Research has shown that weight training does have a lesser effect on a woman's metabolic rate than a man's but nevertheless if you are looking to burn as much fat as possible as quickly as possible, you should incorporate weight training into your exercise routine. Don't worry ladies - you won't get huge!
Challenge yourself with the weights and aim to at least lift 60% of your maximum, you'll need at least this to challenge your muscles to grow. Also think about making your sessions intense, don't rest for too long between sets, this will help keep your heart rate elevated. There is no perfect program because your body WILL adapt so change up your routine every few weeks to maximize your results.
Here I will list three of my favourite fat burning exercises with weights that I find help literally melt the fat away;
a) Chest Press - Pretty obvious this one, lie on a bench dismount the barbell from the rack and hold it over your upper chest using a wide oblique overhand grip. Then simply lower the weight to your upper chest and press the bar back until your arms are extended.
b) Squats - Stand with feet hip-width apart with your toes facing straight ahead or slightly angled outward. Slowly bend the knees and lower hips towards the floor whilst you keep your torso straight. Pull your abs in tight and keep your knees behind your toes - everything should be pointing in the same direction. Don't go lower than 90 degrees and aim for around 8-12 reps depending on the weight.
c) Dumbbell Row - Kneel over the side of a bench by placing your knee and hand of your supporting arm on the bench. Position the foot of your opposite leg slightly back to the . Grasp a dumbbell from the floor and pull it towards your side until it makes contact with your ribs or until your upper arm is just beyond horizontal. Return until your arm is extended and shoulder is stretched forward. Repeat for 8 reps then switch to the opposite arm.

3. Bodyweight Training.
Fat burning exercises don't have to be completed with weights!
Fat burning exercises can be done without any equipment just simply by using your own bodyweight. This kind of training is often overlooked but you should incorporate at least some of these techniques if you want to maximize fat-loss. Bodyweight exercises boost the metabolism, help build muscle and can be used for a total body interval cardio circuit workout.You can substitute a bodyweight circuit routine with your normal interval training one just to change things up! The Truth About Abs features some excellent bodyweight fat burning exercises which focus on developing a ripped set of abs, I definitely recommend checking it out.
Here are my 3 favoured fat burning exercises using just your bodyweight;
a) Spider-man Lunge - Get into a regular pushup position and keep your abs braced and your hips in place. Bring your foot up the side of your hand so you feel a bit of a stretch in your groin. Your abdominals will be working isometrically to hold you in place. Bring the foot back down to the start position and alternate legs. Repeat for 8-12 on each side.
b) Spider-man Pushup - Once again assume the regular pushup position keeping your abs braced. As you lower your body, bend your right leg and rotate your right knee outward until it is outside of your right elbow. Don't drag your foot, and try not to allow your torso to rotate. Return to the starting position and repeat, pulling your left knee to your left elbow. Do 8-10 reps per side.
c) Mountain Climbers - Its again time to get into our pushup position. This time though place your hands on the floor with your shoulders over hands. Tuck one leg into your chest with the other extended. Descend the leg back to the start position. Alternate sides and repeat for anywhere between 10 and 20 reps each side. Be sure to place your weight onto the balls of your feet and keep your abs braced throughout.
