Step Up to the Plate

Help Pendleton SC rebuild the ball fields at the beautiful community built park. The children and the parents will appreciate your donation -- large or small!

We are a group of concerned citizens interested in making Pendleton SC's Veterans Park the best it can be. We currently have a playground, walking trail, three picnic shelters, a concessions pavilion with restrooms, and three old ballfields.

How will you celebrate Father's Day this year?

Joan... Mel would love this and be so proud! I remember your Dad so well and he had that deep, distinctive "James Earl Jones" type voice. Can't believe he never raised it... but then I really can because I never heard him raise it either... and he was, after all, really a true Southern Gentleman. I know he was.then.. and is now... mighty proud of you Tate girls!

Thank you, John! Indeed I never heard Dad raise is voice - no matter what we had done. We knew when we were in trouble though. If his voice got really low, and he started talking in a certain tone, we knew we had better behave, listen and start apologizing! :)

I would have rather had a beating than to know that I had disappointed Dad and you could always hear it in his voice if he was disappointed. He wouldn't get angry but you could tell. Yes, he was a Southern Gentleman!
