So...we are over forty!! Whew, where did the time go? For most of us it's a time to reflect back on what we have accomplished. Our children are now at a age where they don't need us to survive, in fact those little people are probably driving themselves around or living by themselves...gulp. Some of us might be in the process of ending a marriage whether by choice or not, could be the marriage is fine and we just want to change how we look and feel. Or maybe we have been alone longer than we wanted are a bit lonely and don't remember the last time we went on a date. Whatever the reason, we are all looking for a way to lose fat and weight for women after forty because we have more of us than we want. Now weather it's 20 pounds or 100+ pounds it's okay. We will lose it. Why? Because we want to! And that's great! Because it's that time of our lives when we can start looking after ourselves and being good to "us". For some of us this will be the start of finding out who the heck we even are! For so many years we were someone's wife, someone's mom. You can put your own "someone's something" there, but it's all the same. Let's get to know who you are. Before we can start to "fix" our selves we need to first love ourselves. Date yourself, whether your married or not, be good to yourself. Buy some flowers just because they caught your eye, take an extra long bubble bath (don't forget the candles!), that new perfume you smelt last week and liked? Save for it and get it for yourself. Or just something as simple as painting your toe nails. Be content with who you are now on the inside, but ready to change that shell on the outside. JUST WHEN YOU NEED IT, TIPS FOR LOSING WEIGHT AND FAT

We are over forty now. That means our bodies work a bit different than they did ten years ago. As we get older (I think I like the word "mature" better) and closer to menopause our body starts to slow down. So we do have to work a bit harder losing fat and weight as women over forty than girls younger than us. That's okay though, remember we can do this. Look at what we've accomplished already in our lives! Here are a few tips for you to add to the system I mentioned earlier. To have another look at that great opportunity click here

1. Our bodies do not need as many calories as they once did. To lose weight and fat you will need to adjust the amount of calories you are taking in. A good guide is to start eating approximately 500 less calories during the day. But making sure you are still getting a balanced diet! And don't forget calcium. It's very important to maintain the proper amount to keep bones strong and healthy plus it will help prevent osteoporosis.

2. Eat your calories throughout the day. Instead of eating 3 times a day, eat 5 times a day. Spreading it out will help you control your hunger and cravings preventing that afternoon snack out! As well as eating more often, drink more water. This keeps you from becoming dehydrated and naturally increases your metabolism. This also helps by keeping your skin from drying out, which is a bit of a problem for us maturing girls :)

3. You must move to lose. Find an activity that's fun and something you enjoy doing. Take the dog for a walk, go for a swim. Anything that gets you active for 30-40 minutes up to 5 times a week. Start off slow at first, you don't need to rush in and try to climb the mountain on the first day! Try 10-15 minutes 3 times a week at first and work up to 5 days. Then increase the minutes when your comfortable with what you've been doing. Sometimes getting a buddy makes it easier, it's nice to have someone to talk to and laugh with. The extra support is very valuable and you will have someone to share your victories!

    Love the topic of this lens. You are right - after forty, the weight just seems to cling, we all have to work just a little bit harder to keep it off.
