Surely the ultimate aim is to be fit and healthy, which naturally implies having very little excess fat anywhere.
Why do people want to lose fat from these areas? Presumably because of peer pressure to look good. If you ever look at adverts for underwear, you sure don't see any pictures of love handles, stomach fat or double chins.

Prof Barnett, speaking at the National Obesity Forum (NOF) conference in London, said: "Waist measurements can predict the risks of Type 2 diabetes and heart disease more accurately than weight.
Men with waists of more than 40 inches and women with waist measurements of more than 35 inches are at an incredibly high risk of Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
"Even a lower waist of 37 inches in men and 32 inches in women may significantly raise the risk of either of these diseases, if not both."
Other related health issues to being overweight include:
- Sleep apnea
- Fatigue
- Liver disease
- Urinary incontinence
- Depression or anxiety
- Premature aging
- Early death
So there would appear to be a strong case for getting rid of love handles
and stomach fat. The big question is, how?

Sadly, the bad news is, if you're looking for a quick and easy way to eliminate the fat rolls from around your waist, you are in for a big disappointment. The hard facts are that there are no exercises or pills that will allow you to target the fat in specific parts of your body.
Most everybody seems to think that dieting is the answer. That is because virtually any diet can help you lose weight over the short term. Simply cutting back on calories while maintaining your normal schedule will certainly allow you to lose weight, at least in the short term.
The problem with this approach, of course, is that it is difficult to maintain. Eventually you will grow tired of the same old restricted calorie diet, and when you stop eating that diet, the weight will quickly return. When you yo yo diet, you end up gaining more weight than you lost, making it much more difficult for you to lose weight the next time. Worse still, this type of up and down weight gain and loss has been found to be even more dangerous than being overweight
Exercise has to be the cornerstone of any diet program,and without a solid exercise plan in place it will be virtually impossible to maintain any weight loss you do achieve through diet alone.The other side of the coin is that there are no two ways about it, if you want to lose weight, you have to reduce the number of calories your body stores. Even if you work out like someone possessed, you will still gain weight if the number of calories you consume is greater than the number you burn.
Therefore, your diet is crucial in your quest to get rid of those wretched love handles. The stored fat around your mid-section (for men) is typically the last to leave your body even after months or years of an exercise plan. It is so difficult to lose those last few pounds. For women, the last few pounds of fat is typically stored in the hips / buttocks / thigh region.

Fortunately, it is not necessary to exercise like a fiend to achieve a healthy weight loss. Studies have shown that you can gain significant health benefits simply by exercising a few times a week, for as little as 20 minutes each day. That means that simply taking a walk around your neighborhood three or four times a year can be remarkably effective.
More strenuous exercise is always an option, but it is important not to push yourself too soon. If you introduce strenuous exercise into your exercise plan too quickly you could risk an injury, and that could set your diet and exercise plan back further.
Whether you get your exercise through your exercise equipment, the old fashioned way of taking a walk or going for a run, or a combination of both approaches, the most important thing is that you get started and get started as soon as possible.
The sooner you begin your exercise program the sooner you will be able to reap the many rewards of such a program. It takes a few weeks before you start to see the physical benefits or your diet and exercise program. However, you will see almost immediate results in your energy level and overall mental alertness when you exercise daily.
There is, sadly, no quick fix. There are, however, effective ways to reduce your love handles. A combination of targeted exercises and a healthy diet will soon have you looking slim and trim.
If all else fails,breathe in very deeply and stand as tall as you can. You won't have got rid of your love handles, but at least you'll look ten pounds thinner.

The Famous Cabbage Soup Diet
The Cabbage Soup Diet is one of the most well known of all the fad diets. Many people have tried it over the years, but just remember that it is fad and weight loss is rarely permanent with quick weight loss diets. If after one week, you still feel that you must lose additional weight, wait two weeks eating normally during that period, then repeat the Cabbage Soup Diet for one more week. The Cabbage Soup Diet, doesn't provide you with all the nutrients needed for a permanent way of eating, but it's a great "shock" diet to get you started on your weight loss program.
Again, this is not a diet for extended periods. If you experience symptoms such as nausea, lightheadedness and weakness, stop the program. You should visit a health care professional if the side effects continue once you've returned to "normal" eating. Most people tolerate the bloated gassy feeling because they know it's only for seven days and the expectation that they can lose up to ten pounds in one week with no chance of hunger pangs makes it worth while.

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... Don't waste them on exercise . Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable).
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: You're not listening....Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable. It's the best feel-good food around!!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Your brain and your heart are especially sensitive to even the slightest levels of dehydration. 4. Avoid refined sugars. Oh, but they taste so good! Refined sugars (i.e., those found in processed foods like white sugar, cola, candy bars, etc.) wreak havoc on your blood sugar level and also cause your body to release the hormone insulin, which inhibits fat loss.
Tip: Substitute those twinkies and candy bars for fruit!
5. Avoid saturated fats. But these taste so good, too!
To be clear, some dietary fat is needed for good health. Fats supply energy and essential fatty acids and promote absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. Most of us are aware, however, that high levels of saturated fat are linked to a greater risk for heart disease.
The main sources of saturated fats are meat, milk, and milk products and a lot of the snack foods we munch on throughout the day. Try to replace these sources with natural fats found in olive oil, nuts and seeds and some fish.
