Our Costumes
All of these were made by hand. Most of the photos show me and two cousins. Their mom made their costumes, and my mom (or another aunt) made mine.
Please keep in mind- it was the late 80s and early 90s!
Dinosaur!
My cousin as a ferocious dino!

My aunt made this wonderful dinosaur costume for my cousin one year. I wasn't born yet, so I don't remember it. But I can only imagine he LOVED it! My aunt is so stinkin' creative when it comes to some of the things she made! Just wait and see what else she made!
Santa?

My aunt, the expert seamstress, made a deal with her young son. He could choose anything he wanted to be for Halloween, and she would make it. Some years, the costumes were much more challenging than others!
In 1986, he decided he wanted to be Santa Claus. Who would've guessed! She came up with this wonderful costume for her three-year old son. What fun!
Homemade or Storebought?
Transformed?

A few years later, my cousin wanted to be a Transformer. (This was when they were in the first time!) This purplish costume actually did transform into... something. Maybe a car? I honestly can't remember. But if he thought of it, his mom would make it happen!
Here, my other cousin was an excited little ballerina!
Clowns and Ninjas
In the early 90s, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were HUGE (for the first time)! My cousin was all into them, so my aunt made him a ninja turtle costume. (He wore his belt upside down, so I call him Sevenardo.) She sewed in all the muscles into some sweats. 15 years later, my little brother found the costume and wore it for years! Unfortunately, I think this is as ripped as my cousin ever will be!
His sister and I spent that Halloween as the two cutest clowns ever! Our costumes were homemade too!
Pumpkins and Princesses and Turtles, Oh My!

Another aunt of mine made me a wonderful pumpkin costume. I loved it! I remember dressing up in it for as long as it would fit.
My cousin H started her series of years as a princess. Don't let her fool you! She thought she was a princess all the other days of the year too!
And my aunt created a Ninja Turtle head for R that year. He wanted to be one again, so she just added to the costume. He got really upset a few years ago (in his mid-twenties, mind you) when he found out the head got ruined and thrown out. Whoops!

The Great Beyond
Far beyond the reaches of earth is space. My cousin on the right, the space cadet, was an explorer of the vast unknown. (Yes, she is a space cadet at times in real life, too!)
Her brother, on the other hand, explored the high seas as a pirate! This may have been his least elaborate costume throughout the years.
My aunt, on the left, is... I'm not sure. Any guesses?
