Favorite iPod Touch Apps

The YouTube app came already loaded on the iPod and since I already use YouTube a lot on my computer this app makes it easier for me to use when I'm not. I use it quite often.

The app makes it easier to search, favorite, and view YouTube videos rather than trying to go through a browser.

When I announced on Twitter that I got an iPod one of the first tweets back was that I had to get Angry Birds. This is the first app I splurged on.

There is a regular Angry Birds and there is a Seasons. I started off with the winter version, then went back and did Halloween. Now I'm working my way through Hogs and Kisses (for Valentine's day).

This is an incredibly basic game to play. Don't get me wrong it has it's challenges but there are no mazes or complicated schemes to remember. It is a bird destroys pig because pig ate bird's eggs kind of game.

And it's totally addicting. I dare you to download it and not play for more than two minutes.

The seasons version is set up like an advent calendar and the player clicks on a day to play a different board. Each one has three levels and you try to get to the highest level on each day for a bonus game at the end.

This is one of my favorite social marketing tools. It allows me to view my twitter account, lists, tweeter groups, and of course tweet.

I first fell in love with Tweetdeck on my computer and I love it just as much on my iPod. It's the number one reason why I find Twitter enjoyable.

There are other Twitter apps available, including an official app from Twitter and one from HootSuite. I have both apps on my iPod but I find I still love Tweetdeck the best.

The Facebook app is another social media tool that allows me to keep on top of my friend notifications, new friends requests as well as update my status very easily.

After a few trial and errors I found Stanza for my ebook reading. I love the graphics, text and format. It makes reading from a small screen easy and it has some pretty cool features like page turn.

I can read books I already have, search for free books, and buy new books.

I have a thing for the moon and its phases. For years I have had Lunabar in the toolbar of my computer but they've stopped updating the software.

I found this simple moon phase app that lets me know what phase the moon is in for my area with just a click.

I'm a huge TV and movie buff and am constantly visiting IMDb to look up what else an actor has been in or to look up who is starring in a new movie.

This free app makes it just as easy to do on my iPod but easier than using the internet browser.

OMG this so much fun.

This app allows me to turn my camera into a photo booth. You know those booths where you pay a couple bucks to snap four images of you and your friends goofing off.

The Pocket Booth app provides a similar strip except it is digital and can be saved to the camera roll, emailed, or Facebooked.

I LOVE this app.

I honestly didn't think I would find another game as addicting as Angry Birds but I am totally in love with Air Penguin by Gamevil.

There are two modes of play: story and survival. I am currently working my way through the story mode. The basic gist of the story is the adult penguin has to jump around mini icebergs that have melted apart and seperated his family. He has to work his way through starfish, sharks, swordfish and a host of other issues to save the little ones.

The coolest feature about this game is that you play it by tilting your ipod forward and backward or side to side to make the main penguin character move. You eat fish a long the way for energy and your collected fish can be used to buy special skills like making seals smaller, cover over holes in ice, tying up ink fishes snouts, and dizzying sharks.

There is the option to buy extra fish points but I haven't done this and this is actually the only part of the game that kind of bothers me. But Air Penguin is perfectly playable without having to do this it just takes more practice and determination.

Another thing I like about this game is that you don't really die or have a limited number of deaths and have to start over. You keep retrying a level until you succeed and can move on to the next. There are a couple screens of levels to work through -- 100+. More than enough to keep you busy.

This game is very addicting and very cute.

I wanted to get back into yoga again and needed something that could quickly refresh my memory of poses and proper positioning. After searching through the app dash and reading many reviews I decided on the Happy Hips Yoga app with pose that focus on the hips.

Happy Hips Yoga app features Tania Frechette a yoga teacher from Ottawa. It contains 52 poses that can be looked at alphabetical or via predetermined sequences (4 sun salutation and happy hips). It allows me to create and save my own sequences which is quite handy.

Each pose has the option of an audio or written descriptions including benefits and variation. The pictures are brightly lit so you can see the pose (but not the steps of the pose).

The only thing I do not like is that there is no way to control how quickly each pose cycles through. It is a bit fast in my opinion.

Overall I really like this app because it is a quick and handy way to master a pose.

Move over Angry Birds and hello Bubble Birds. If you like any of the bubble pop games then you will love Bubble BIrds.

The goal of the game is to pop three or more birds of the same color. It is mildly challenging and seems to have endless levels. It is a slightly different version than the one for the Blackberry and I like this one better.

The graphics are bright and dare I say pretty. This great for hours and hours of enjoyment for people who are not easily bored and do not require a constant increase in challenge -- it is a good veg game.

Just as the name implies, "Just Light" is an app that provides simple white light.

I downloaded this app because sometimes I just need a little light to get from point A to point B without bashing in my toes. And Just Light is perfect for that.

Unlike the ambient light you get from the regular iPod screen that quickly turns itself off, the Just Light app will stay lit until I turn it off. No other none-light app can compare to the light created.

After reading numerous flashlight app reviews I picked this simple light because I did not want to have to worry about accidentally hitting a strobe or other multifunction light on another light app -- all I wanted was just light.

Relax Melodies HD is a white noise app for use to promote sleep, meditate or relax. I got it do drown out fan noise and it works perfectly.

There are 76 different noises to choose from that can be listened to individually or in a combination -- the app also has preset combinations to choose from.

The first time I used this I was completely shocked how well I slept. I fell asleep quickly and slept soundly for more than few hours (I tend to wake a lot during the night). I used one of the preset sounds. Since then I have been experimenting and my favorite is a combination of metal wind chines, wind surge, and seaside which totally relaxes me.

Other features the app has are an alarm clock, count down to shut off, and binaural frequencies. This is definitely one of my favorite apps.
