Which books have motivated and inspired you the most?

If you are reading this lens, you are not (most likely) one of the people who have never read a book since high school.

You have found books that inspired you to live a better life and set higher goals.

Other books have motivated you to create a plan and take action to achieve those goals.

Still other books have given you the insights and knowledge to make better plans and to accomplish more than you ever thought possible.

I've started this list with some of my favorites and I encourage you to vote for your favorite book, or, if it isn't in the list, to add it.

This is a companion lens to Favorite Motivational Movies.

You're encouraged to spread the word about this lens and to invite others to come and vote.

Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised by Napoleon Hill

Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised by Napoleon Hill

I received an autographed copy of this version of Think and Grow Rich a couple of years ago and it became my favorite version of the book. In addition to the larger size, it contains many endnotes that add to the book and is the first edition I know of that has an index. This is my most highly recommended book.4 points

Oh, the Places You'll Go! (Classic Seuss) by Dr. Seuss

Oh, the Places You'll Go! (Classic Seuss) by Dr. Seuss

Illus. in full color. "Don't be fooled by the title of this seriocomic ode to success; it's not 'Climb Every Mountain,' kid version. All journeys face perils, whether from indecision, from loneliness, or worst of all, from too much waiting. Seuss' familiar pajama-clad hero is up to the challenge, and his odyssey is captured vividly in busy two-page spreads evoking both the good times (grinning purple elephants, floating golden castles) and the bad (deep blue wells of confusion). Law of Success: The 21st-Century Edition: Revised and Updated by Napoleon Hill

Law of Success: The 21st-Century Edition: Revised and Updated by Napoleon Hill

I am half-way through studying this course in success and it's already dog-eared, underlined, annotated, highlighted, and I've added notes, thoughts, and ideas where I found enough blank space to do so. This won't be the only time I study this book and put its principles into action. Highly recommended.1 point

Oh, the Places You'll Go! (Classic Seuss) by Dr. Seuss - has to be one of my personal favorites (although I have many). When I ran a preschool I started a tradition with all my 5 year olds - beginning with my own son - that when they left my program to go to kindergarten they would receive their own copy of the book from me. I would write a letter inside the cover about my favorite memories of and with that child. I've given it as a High School grad gift as well. I can't vote, since you have to join Squidoo to do so. I'll say you have some nice books here, but one I love is Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker.

Great lens, John! I voted for Jack Canfield's "Success Principles" which is my all-time favorite motivational book. Each chapter is only a few pages long, yet it's a very thick book -- making it easy to open to a random page and glean some inspiration (sort of like the bible).

I also added my motivational blog, SufficientThrust.com, to the list (hope that's okay...) ... I have one motivational post a day written and scheduled for the next year, and I designed it so people could get a little boost each day.
