All great picks - I'm especially a big fan of the African Queen. Gotta love Bogart.

Well done on the lens, One of the six is a favorite of mine, however my wife loves them all. I think she wore out a tape of True Grit but now has it on disc.

We loved True Grit! I think my all time favorite movies would be Dirty Dancing, Footloose, Yaya Sisterhood, West Side Story, Dirty Dozen, On Golden Pond.

What a cool movie list! I really enjoyed some of the films included here, and my favorite also would be the The Wizard of Oz. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Susan. =)

Susan, I love your list but I think we know we have fairly similar tastes, don't we. However, you keep bringing new movies to my attention. I've never even heard of Shop Around the Corner before. (And I love You've Got Mail.)

I go to a darker side on my list, but I love the older movies too. Maybe I like the weird or twist plots because my life is so Normal. But with Squidoo it is certainly not boring. 5*

Gosh -- would you believe we only have one favorite movie in common? I would have thought yours would be mine -- don't get me wrong, I love the ones you've presented, but my favorites can be found in some of my lenses -- Oh, the one we agree on has Natalie Wood.

I have added "The Shop Around the Corner" to the list above. You all are right, it's a great movie and deserves to share the list with "You've Got Mail."
  • EelKat Jan 21, 2009 @ 4:17 am | delete
I love You Got Mail. I like the original version of it even better though (Shop Around the corner staring Jimmy Stewart).

I watch Oz a couple of times a year, it's one of my fave movies.

    Great lens!

Ooh, I love Rear Window! I may have to lengthen my list to 10, and that will definitely be on it.
  • poutine Dec 31, 2008 @ 2:30 pm | delete
One of my favorite movies of all time is Rear Window with Jimmy Stewart.

Great choices! I've almost seen them all, but True Grit was SO long ago I barely remember, and, well, I've always *meant* to see The African Queen. Thanks for the reminder, and the entertaining lens! 5*****

I do like "Shop Around the Corner," in fact. It's hard to resist Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, though!
  • rms Dec 11, 2008 @ 3:09 pm | delete
Wow! The African Queen is a favorite in my house too! I didn't know it was available on dvd!
  • jfield Dec 11, 2008 @ 3:03 pm | delete
I'm in agreement with most of your choices. I am surprised about You've Got Mail. Thought you would have gone with the original version: The Shop Around the Corner. I like the simple and straightforward layout, and the pictures you found are great.

Love the Wizard of Oz! Great focused lens!
  • Ener-G Dec 10, 2008 @ 11:45 pm | delete
Fun lens. Here are some of my favorites: The Last Mimzy and Stardust.
  • OhMe Dec 10, 2008 @ 10:39 pm | delete
I love your choices and agree 100% that these are 6 of the all time best movies. I would have to add Gone With The Wind and Molly Brown. Great lens. I really enjoyed. Thank you.
  • stargazer00 Dec 10, 2008 @ 10:17 pm | delete
I like your choices. I think I've seen all of them, though some not for a long time. I think I need to watch True Grit again the next time it comes around. Yeah, and I've taken my share of those $7 naps. Now I go to matinees or wait till it comes out on DVD. Hey, I love your snazzy dividers too. ;-)
