You can be the star with awesome customer service

In the nearly 17 years I've been online (yes that goes back to the very first AOL days), if there has been one thing that is a constant... it's Customer Service.

I've seen outstanding customer service, and I've seen lousy to non-existent customer service. I've even worked as a customer service rep for a search engine.

That's why, when I'm looking for companies with whom I do business, I look to their customer service reputation BEFORE I look at price.

To see the companies I love, I've created a blog about them... more about that later.

I work from home

Living on the desert in SW Utah, working from home is what makes sense for me. In addition to shepherding sheep, feeding the chickens, training the horses, and planting crops, I love copy writing. So, I work from home, writing for at least six different blogs. Some are more "journals" than blogs designed to gain income.

I am active in a number of forums, where I lend my 30 years of expertise as a "give back" to the world.

My daily routine

I'm the last one up in the morning. After a cup of coffee and a quick chat with farm girl roomies, I start my day at the computer.

Basically, it goes like this...

Breakfast is at the computer (bowl of cereal) while I check e-mail, stats and news. (about 1 1/2 hrs).
Feed the animals (30 minutes).
Do forum postings (I read at least 10 forums a day and post accordingly) (1 hour)
Work on blogs and study as necessary (3 to 4 hours) I generally fix a sandwich to eat at the computer.
Feed animals (30 minutes)
Dinner break with the rest of my roomies. We always sit down together for dinner and share our day's experiences.
In the evening, I may work on blogs for a while, or go play games on Pogo, where I keep an upgraded membership.

My tips for keeping a good work-life balance from home

Since my roomies and I are all either retired or semi-retired, we have a lot of interests. Some days, we spend all day outdoors working on the farm. Some days we just "hang out". We don't worry about "keeping up with the Jones'".

If I get stumped on something, I set it aside and let my sub-conscious take over. In time, when I return, the solution will be at hand.

Readers: Do you work from home, too?

I think you have to be very careful who you choose as a mentor. I've been around a long time and have seen many come and go. If there's one thing I've found over the years, a lot of who you will want to follow is about your own temperament for assertive/aggressive marketing methods.

Just because someone talks about how much they make doesn't mean they know how to teach you or even that their system can be mastered by the next person.

How do you know who to trust?

Most folks on the net can't be trusted.

There are honest marketers/mentors out there.

Ask Me Why... Work From Home

Semi-retired, working from home and loving it!

I work from home both online and offline. My roomies and I have a small farm where we raise sheep, chickens and vegetables for the local Farmers' Market. We also own a free-to-join manual traffic exchange, and do a fair amount of affiliate marketing.
