Welcome, Come Sing Along
My family was always into music! From as early as I can remember we performed in our family living room and on occasion we acted out our talents in Navy family talent shows.
This song, in particular, was the best! Especially during the holidays it reminds me of:
- good times with family
- singing as if no one is watching
- the smell of fresh baked cookies and cider
- a scrumptious home-cooked meal
- getting bitter cold and then snuggling up to a fireĀ

Crisp Apple Strudels

"The Viennese popularized it, yet unlike the Von Trapps, strudel's roots were not in Austria. Though the word strudel originated there, the dessert actually began in Greece, probably as far back as the third century B.C. There, the technique of using paper-thin dough stretched until it's almost transparent was first perfected in phyllo dough (phyllo is Greek for leaf), the covering of another famous dessert, baklava.
Today Europeans think of the delicate shaping of strudel's dough, called strudel-pulling, as an art form. But as you make our Apple Strudel, don't worry about perfecting your dough. Simply enjoy it, as Maria did, because it will surely become one of your favorite things, too!" Cooking Light

Reader Comment: "Even though I am post-menopausal I am still laughing my way through these stories, just wishing the book had been published five years ago (although I wouldn't have had the pleasure of being a contributor then). This is a great book for every woman even close to menopause age. Just knowing we're all in this together is a comfort. The book is a hoot...and what can be better for your soul than a good laugh!"

For those who are disappointed with the results of the dating scene, an alternative is now gaining popularity. Before automobiles and the information age, those eligible for marriage practiced a custom known as courtship. Some grandparents can probably still remember the days when young ladies did not go out with men unchaperoned. Instead, family and group activities were the most common and accepted form of...continued
