YABBA DABBA DOO!!

Back in the 1960's when I was little, you could always find me on Saturday mornings in front of that big old console TV watching all my favorite cartoons.
I still love them and can watch them over and over. In my opinion the newer cartoons can't hold a candle to them. Let me tell you a little about my very favorite ones.

My All Time Favorite

THE FLINTSTONES

Did you know that the Flintstones were inspired by the "Honeymooners"?

The Flintstones origionally aired on ABC from from 1960 to 1966. It was one of the most successful sitcoms of all times. Because it was set in the Stone Age there were all kinds of puns and gags that we all remember, for example appearances by Cary Granite and Stoney Curtis. (Makes me smile thinking of this.)

Allan Reed was Fred's voice until he died in 1989 and Barney's voice was Mel Blanc except for a period of time when Mr. Blanc was recovering from a car accident and at that time Daws Butler filled in. (I didn't know this as a child but I knew all of a sudden Barney sounded different for a period of time.)

My 2nd Favorite

The Jetsons

Do you know what the Jetson's phone number was VENUS-1234?
Like the Flintstones, the Jetsons are an American family living in a different era. Though never really stated, it was thought to be 100 years in the future.
The origional 24 episodes were made from 1962-63 but the episodes ran on Saturday mornings for years.

I Love this little Guy

Casper the Friendly Ghost

Did you know that Casper was at first intended to be a children's book? Because there was little interest, the writer and illustrator sold it to Paramount Pictures in the 1940's.
Casper also became a comic book in 1952. And another bit of trivia, Casper was allergic to pineapple. Go figure!

I so loved this sweet little fellow, I could never resist him.

About Robbin

I'm an optician by trade but my true passion is designing and making jewelry and learning all I can about gemstones. I'm new to growing herbs but it's been a dream of mine for a long time and at this point in my life I'm lucky enough to indulge myself in things that were once dreams. How much better than that does it get?
