By the same author, Cynthia Rylant, as the Mr. Putter and Tabby series, comes these books about a little guinea pig who sleeps all day but awakes at night to roam about in a toy store.

Author Bill Peet wrote around 30 children's books as well as worked on Disney projects. His books have lots of text so they are for children with longer attention spans. Cute stories, with interesting characters.

By the same author as the Little Whistle books, Cynthia Rylant creates this darling series about a man and his cat and a lady and her dog.

My toddler calls these books "singing books" because they are each based on a well know song. Some have the original lyrics, while others feature fun, new lyrics based on the same melody. These books are great for singing together!

I recently stumbled onto a big book entitled "People" by Peter Spier at our local public library. I'm always looking for different, interesting, non-fiction books to bring home for our boys to look at. This particular book, while somewhat out of date (ie. world population) is still fun to read. It has tons of intricate pictures portraying various games played around the world, different facial features, various clothing, foods eaten by those in different countries, etc. It's a great book to look at and read when you have plenty of time to explore the pictures!

Peter Spier is a new author to me, but I've already put some more of his books on reserve at the library. Yeah!
