My Son's Favorite Children's Picture Books
Below are some of my son's favorite books. They are my favorite too!
Book Reviews
I have listed a few of my 4 year old son's favorite books of which I too am very fond. I hope you enjoy these books as much as my son and I do. Yours truly, Mike.
The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson, Illustrated by Axel Scheffler
This book is one of my favorites. It is written in rhyme and follows the adventures of a snail who rides around the world on the back of a whale. It culminates with the tiny snail saving the life of the giant whale. A great story with beautiful illustrations and a good message. It is a book I do not mind reading over and over again to my son. Where's the Dragon by Jason Hook, Illustrated by Richard Hook
The author tells a story that captivates young minds. The book is written so a child as young as my son can follow the story, but a child a little older could better grasp the meaning of some of the misunderstandings caused by the grandfather who is hard of hearing. The book is textured and has a game to count all the dragons that are placed throughout the book. This is a book that a child can read over the years and find new things at different ages. The Mitten by Jan Brett
Based on a Ukrainian Folktale, this book is very cute. A boy loses a pure white mitten in the snow. It soon becomes the home for animals of increasing size who are trying to keep warm. My son loves the animals. I love the humorous idea of the story. Minerva Louise and the Red Truck by Janet Morgan Stoeke
This book is simple, clever and funny. I have read it to my son a million times and I still get a good chuckle and he laughs like crazy. Minerva Louise is a chicken who has a different take on the world. She sees everyday objects from her own perspective as she sneaks a ride around town in the red pick up truck. Squirt Swims with the Stars by Michael Stephens
