If you have any places that you would like me to research and write about, just leave a comment and I will do my best.

Camping or Motels

I think that most people are pretty clear cut about which holiday mode they prefer.

NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand is the youngest country on earth - the last major landmass to be discovered.
It has a fascinating history. There are many cultural Maori sites to see, some dating back almost a thousand years.
The Maoris call New Zealand "Aotearoa" The Land of The Long White Cloud.
There are many things to do in NZ such as:
Scenic Flights, Gliding, Hot Air Ballooning, Paragliding & Hang Gliding, Sky Diving, Bungey Jumping, Canyoning, Horse Treks
or
Casinos, Farms, Spas/Health Resorts & Thermal Bathing Pools, Theme & Leisure Parks, Volcanic & Geothermal
or
Boat Cruises, Kayaking, Diving, Fishing, Jet Boating, Rafting, Sailing, Surfing, Windsurfing & Kite surfing, Para sailing.

If you are an energetic person you will love all of the extreme things to do. If you would prefer to sit back there are plenty of places where the views will take your breath away.

I love to visit Rotorua in The Bay Of Plenty, you can really soak up the traditional atmosphere there.
You can watch master carvers and weavers at work, telling the stories of the ancestors through their crafts.
Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley has mud pools, cooking pools, the Pohutu Geyser, midday cultural performance, evening cultural show with hangi, this is the traditional way to cook (delicious).
Maybe learn how to do the Haka, traditional dance of the Maori used in greetings, war, to intimidate or just for fun. It has many versions, not just the one that The All Blacks do before a game of Rugby.

Go tramping through the rugged bushland if you are really lucky you might come across an old swing bridge, scary stuff, not for me at all.
Visit the beautiful beaches, soft white sand, temperate climate.

There are no poisonous creatures in New Zealand, no snakes of any sort.
Plenty of great shops, just so much to see.

Tasmania - AUSTRALIA

Tasmania is a beautiful place, so green, full of character and great things to see and do.
Just flying over Tasmania is breathtaking, it's spring but there is still snow on some of the mountains. Awesome.
Off the plane in Hobart and on to a small bus into the City itself.
Hobart is Australia's 2nd oldest city full of historic buildings, some of the best eateries in the world. The fish is so fresh here, that it is literally from the sea to the pan to the plate. Best fish I have ever tasted. They have these cute little boats (I think they call them Punts, a small flat bottom boat that can sit in shallow water) and they are actually restaurants, so you can sit on a boat in the harbour and fill up on the catch of the day, my favourite is Flathead.
You could literally take days just strolling around the streets soaking in the atmosphere, walk up a hill and there before you are some of the most beautiful views, sparkling blue water, lush green fields, historic buildings.
Take a stroll down Salamanca Place, full of artists studios and galleries. Or go and see the Botanic Gardens see the Historic Plant Collection.
Tasmania has so many attractions:
*Cradle Mountain
*Port Arthur
*Cadbury Chocolate Factory
*Boags Brewery

Bundaberg - AUSTRALIA

The Bundaberg region is the Gateway to The Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. There are 140 kms of unspoiled beaches.
If you have patience you might just be lucky enough to see the turtles at Mon Repos or the Humpback Whales just off Fraser Island. We have been lucky enough to see both, what a magnificent sight the tiny turtle small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and then the humpback whale breeching (coming out of the water) right alongside our boat, I didn't realise how big they were, they are huge.
Then maybe a tour of the Bundy distillery, home of the famous Bundaberg Rum. Just down the road a bit is the Ginger Beer Brewery.
A short trip out of town and you will some across a small tourist attraction called Mystery Craters. One of Australia's most baffling phenomenoms.
Marvel at the sugar cane that grows right on the outskirts of town, and watch the cane being transported on small cane trains with 70 odd carriages, not to mention the burning off, the cane is burnt before harvesting this creates huge fires that are quite an attraction.

Lightning Ridge - AUSTRALIA

Lightning Ridge is famous for its rare Black Opal. This is a magnificent dark opal flecked with red, green or blue. The town itself is full of interesting characters, many different nationalities gather here in hope of finding that elusive opal. Many of the residents live in camps on their claims, right next to where they may be mining for opal.
One local has turned his mine into a tourist attraction by doing carvings in the walls of his old mine, the tours take you through a maze of carvings, he says that he has made more out of showing off his talent than he did from mining.
The town has natural artesian bore baths, rich in potassium salts said to be good for tired and aching muscles, this is free for all to use.
Every Easter the famous Goat Races are on, a must see for sure.

Melbourne - AUSTRALIA

Melbourne is the shopping capital of Australia, so many boutique shops. The food is pretty good too, many great eateries and a wide range of dishes. Lygon Street is famous for its Italian restaurants.
Go for a cruise on the Yarra or check out the Crown Casino.
Every month there is some sort of sporting event happening, tennis, motor racing, football and of course The Melbourne Cup horse race.
Melbourne is one of those places that you can go back to time and time again and still see something different.
