February 4th is Quacker Day-a great day for ducks! Whip out the rubber duckies and any other quacky toys you have lying around. Write a story about ducks and sing the Rubber Duckie song. Have a duck party and serve, you guessed it, quackers and cheese!

February 11th is Make a Friend Day. Sing the old Girl Scout favorite song, Make New Friends. Create a craft project that you can share with a friend or a senior citizen or nursing home resident. Set up a penpal or phone pal or email pal relationship with others. Reach out today!

February 20th is Love Your Pet Day. Organize a pet parade or a pet showcase with pictures and memorabilia. Have a pet show and tell activity. Arrange a field trip to the local pet shop and find out how the business is run. Set up a charity drive to benefit your local pet shelter with food, supplies and pet toys.

February 26th is Tell a Fairy Tale Day. Share your favorites from older editions of the books, even the originals if you can. You'll find the language is at a much higher level and your listeners will benefit from the vocabulary work. Be sure to read them through first to yourself though-don't want any nasty surprises from these tales that change over time. Rewrite fairy tales from another character's point of view or tell the tale with a twist on the ending. Make a fairy tale book that illustrates your favorites, or watch video versions of the books you just read and compare and contrast the two.
