CHEAP NOODLE SOUPS AVAILABLE

I took the photos of the noodle soup and then ate them later.

Oh, Bummer! Computer told me that Feed Africa Lens has already been taken by someone else but it was me. So I changed it to Feed the World only to find out that now, I got almost 2 identical Lens with the Lens title Feed so I cancelled the other one.
**************
My intro photo is about cheap sorts of noodle soups which I bought for 30 cents each. I bought this ready-to-cook frozen vegetable mix, thawed it and blanched it. All I have to do is add the vegetables into the soup. This could feed the hungry.

There are lots of people in some corners of the world who cannot afford to eat a decent meal and drink clean water. We, in this part of the northern hemisphere, are lucky to be in the buttered-side of life. Clean water from the mountains come out of the tap just like that. Food is plentiful and we have various choices like oranges from Israel or Spain, potatoes from Egypt or from our local farmers, poultry products like chicken, duck and turkey meat from Hungary or from here, rice from Italy or from Thailand, beef from Argentina or from the local butcher shop, and ...and.

Poor people from all continents except penguins in Antarctica are having empty stomachs while we are throwing away food. The least we can do is think about them. Let us not waste food. Now, there is a food organization which collects the goods from the supermarkets which are going to expire soon. The local hotels are also participating to donate the vegetables and fruits not fit to serve their exclusive guests but still edible enough for the normal hand-to-mouth existence folks. Sorry for that remark but it is the truth. The products are not free-of-charge though but affordable since the organization also needs some operating capital to carry on with their charity work. If we don't consume the goods from supermarkets, there is no profit for the supermarket owners and no profit means, laying-off some of the employees and finally, their families will suffer and get hungry ending up lining up the queue to get the food stuffs from the help organization. That is life. It is a no-win situation.

On a lighter note, we are pretty sure that the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization has ways and means to tackle the problems plaguing the world when it comes to food shortage or climactic catastrophe like drought or floods in the third world countries. Governments of these nations should also start helping themselves for once by releasing some of their arable lands for their own people's use to raise crops and cattle. Have you ever noticed that when a President starts his office term, he is so thin as a bamboo and after everlasting term because he would not step down, he is as big as a Suomo wrestler?

On every Christian holiday, we notice, donation collectors are knocking at every door, house-to-house, not missing anyone asking for donation for this and that country. We think that people are tired to hear all that. If we need the money ourselves, we cannot knock at our neighbors' doors and ask for donations. We donate to the Fire Department, Red Cross, Church, Children Organization, Women's Organization and what is left for ourselves? Nobody will donate for us.

There are lots of volunteers going to these poor countries and render their services for free. They are the modern day Florence Nightingales. Their food and accommodations will be financed by the Help organizations which they are in touch with. I admire their selflessness but most of us are not like them. We are more realistic persons keeping away from the madding crowd. Some of us would have this don't bother me attitude. Somehow, they are fed up.

One idea to feed the world is to send them no money. Send them packets of sturdy seeds to raise plants if they don't have any. Let them build water pumps to irrigate the fields. Let them plant trees. Without trees, there is no rain coming down. No rain, there is drought, When there is drought, people and cattle go thirsty. After the drought, there is a heavy rainfall and since the earth is powder-dry, the flood will flush away the good fertile soil away into the sea. Let them educate their children because education is the foundation of a stable society. These are somehow draconian measures but we have to shake their senses to wake up and do something for themselves.Ping your blog, website, or RSS feed for Free

Great Lens, if the world really worked together as one, we should be able to sort out hunger for ever. Its so sad that all this starvation still exists in the world.

There is the saying, "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime." I guess that's what you're saying here. The wasted food could feed the hungry nations.

i am sorry to be harsh writing my lens. i wrote this lens so many months ago, sometime in april 2011. now, hunger and thirst are plaguing africa and my lens may be so insensitive to what is happening down there. i don't mean to offend anyone but i won't edit my lens as it was my private opinions before this famine happened.
