What are Web Feeds & What is RSS?

Web feeds are special documents that can be read by computers and used to deliver information updates. These 'news' items can be received by applications known as 'feed readers or news aggregators'.

You can subscribe to feeds and get automatic updates as they are published, either online or by downloading to your computer. The process is known as 'syndication' and many feeds may be read from one, central location rather than accessing multiple web sites. You can receive any kind of content including news headlines, blog posts, lists, audio and video podcasts etc. To find out more visit Wikipedia Web feed

About RSS
RSS (Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary) is an XML-based format for sharing and distributing Web content. RSS, along with Atom, is the format used to deliver web feeds. You can recognize a feed by the small orange icon found on web pages like the one at the top of this lens. The icon may sometimes show the letters RSS or XML. To find out more visit Wikipedia RSS file format
