Make sure that your overseas investment is in a country that is stable. Belize has a stable government and economy. Some markets might fare better than others. You need to make sure that you can afford a long term investment. Long term investments do better than short term most of the time.

8. How much money would I need to live on in San Pedro?

San Pedro is a very affordable place to live. We have great places to eat from the classic Belizean food (lunch for about US$4.00) to 5 star restaurants. It all depends on what you like to eat and where. Our food bill per month is around US$350 that includes going out to eat.

9. Do I have to pay tax?

Yes. Property taxes are due in April. Taxes are a fraction of what they are in the states and Canada. Property tax is 1.5% and most property tax is based on 10 - 30% of the purchase price.

10. How do I invest?

Make sure you feel confident in your investment and know what the procedure is before you take your first step. It can be a very rewarding experience if you have done your due diligence.
