Feline Pine Cat Litter

Ranked #6,555 in Pets & Animals, #164,231 overall

Clay is Passe, Pine is Divine

As an owner of a multi-cat household who has tried every litter in the book, I decided I would share my experience with Feline Pine in this lens.  With 5 cats and 1 (yes, 1) litter box that they all use in peace ... I only have kudos for this litter and how easy it is to manage.

The objective of this lens is simple - to share Feline Pine with you, the reader.

Not all litter is created equal - Performance Charts

The following 3 charts look at the difference between Feline Pine and other litters (including other pine litters).

Dust Generation

Dust with pour is measured by the percentage of litter not reaching a standard litter pan, when 244 cubic inches of litter is poured from a height of 18 inches.

Moisture Absorption

Moisture absorption is measured in grams of water per gram of litter.

Ammonia Neutralization

Feline Pine neutralizes odor faster and more effectively. The ammonia odor neutralization test was completed using standard dosing of 5ml of ammonia.

Save the Otters

A message from Nature's Earth Inc.

Dear Cat Owners:

Nature's Earth has recently become aware of a serious health threat to sea otters living off the coast of California, caused by improper disposal of cat waste. As a company rooted in the mission of cat health and environmental responsibility, we feel we need to help educate the public.

Most domestic cats carry a parasite called Toxoplasmosis Gondii (TG). Traditionally, TG has only been a concern for pregnant women handling the litter box (click here for more info). TG has no effect on other family members, including cats, dogs or other pets. However, research has found that TG is making its way to our oceans by way of toilets and storm drains.

TG can survive the sewage treatment process and flow freely into the ocean along with otherwise clean treated water. Shockingly, TG is to blame for nearly 20% of all sea otter deaths today. The State of California has already passed a law requiring citizens to properly dispose of cat feces in the trash, with hefty fines for non-compliance. Pressure is being applied to other coastal communities, both east and west, to do the same.

While Feline Pine and other alternative cat litter varieties are flushable, and while that aspect may seem convenient to cat owners, we at Nature's Earth strongly urge our customers to dispose of their cat's feces in the garbage-especially if you live in a coastal community.

We believe that our customers deserve the facts about TG. Currently, we are in the process of changing all of our packaging to include this new warning. By making this one small adjustment to our cat-care routines, we can help save the lives of innocent marine life and preserve this environment we all enjoy.

Sincerely,
Nature's Earth Products, Inc.

I actually use Feline Pine for my rabbit's litter box. It works very well, is non toxic and keeps his cage odor free. I didn't know about the sea otter problem but I never considered flushing the litter anyway. It goes in the garbage. Great lens.

cannot believe you only have 1 litter box!
you're my idol...I have 5 rescued kitties and am in the process of changing from clay to feline pine - I hope to reduce from 5 boxes to , ahem, 2.
    Any suggestions???

    thanks in advance!

I found that the Pine litter was a revolution until we got new kittens. The female doesn't like using it at all. It took me 2 weeks of her going all over the house to work that out. Now I have gone back to cheap white stuff and she is fine.

Pine really is the way to go. My sister and her husband came over this past weekend and have a new kitty. They were wondering how our house did not smell like cats (and we have 5 of them). I told them it was the Feline Pine. No clay smells, cat urine smells, etc. :) The stuff is remarkable!
