It's often virgin, usually hand-worked, and often very crafty!
Yes, now that I have your attention--I'm talking about the use of felt in home decor and home accents. Pictured here is one of the coolest felt items I've seen! It's Henry's Collar, a fruit holder or fruit bowl. It was designed in 2005 of compressed felt. It is a limited edition from the Alessi design museum collection. This was spotted at Zuii Design Studio.
In this lens, I'd like to show you some of the best use of felt in home decor that I've seen. If you've seen some cool applications of felt that you'd like me to profile in my lens, I'd love to hear about it. Please drop me a note at the end of my lens and tell me about it.
Henry's Collar -- Take Two

I just couldn't resist showing you yet another color and view of this marvelous item.
I love felt and the sculptural use of felt in home decor and home accents. This is one of the best I've seen!
Do you love it or not?
Felt Bowl

This is a triple set of felt bowls from The Queen of Felt, Mary-Ann Williams. I've devoted one lens to her to present a cross-section of her beautiful felt creations. I've actually devoted an entire lens to Mary-Ann Williams.
Ms. Williams has created a mind-blowing and amazing selection of felt designer items. She's left no stone unturned when you consider that she has felted items for the home and for fashion.
I've personally communicated with Ms. Williams a number of times in the hope of spreading the word on this talented designer!
Felt Box

Pia Wallen is another recognizable name when you are talking about master felt designers!

These are made in Sweden and are available in a variety of sizes as shown and colors of black, grey, white, red, brown and green. The prices are 380, 480 and 630 SEK depending on the size.
Felt Puzzle Trivet Coaster

Another thing I love, aside from felt, is a puzzle-shape!
This felt trivet from Lily Latifi is adorable--it stacks and it interlocks to make a tablemat or placemat! It's from the collection of 1 + 1.
It comes in cream, grey, red, pistachio, and chocolate.
Felt Tablemat

If you've not yet checked out my lens on The Slice family, you must! That lens showcases the Table Slice, Seat Slice, and Sofa Slice by Lene Frantzen.
I love her series of tree-trunk, nature-inspired felt designs.
This is Table Slice, a felt tablemat, hot pad, or trivet--it's multi-purpose felt home decor!
Felt Magazine Holder

Oh, this is something very cool!
It's the Delite magazine holder that comes in 2 sizes from Mary-Ann Williams.
It's also a pen holder for the kitchen, office, and bathroom. This is inspired by the MARS® chocolate bar! MARS® is a trademark of Mars, Incorporated;
It's 100% felt, pure new wool and comes in different collors.
Felt Magazine Rack

The felt Magazine Rack is constructed of carpent underlayment felt laminated on both sides with dyed felt. The felt is gathered together using a flexible bungee cord to snugly hold your magazines or papers.
This was spotted at 54Dean and is available in a cool variety of nearly one dozen colors! That's hot for sure.
Felt Rocks

Felt rocks by Molo? Hmmm, very interesting! What are these anyways?
You might see them as toys, or you might see them as a unique decoration! In their raw form, a felt rock is technically a lump of felt formed when small bits of wool fluff gather while making polishing wheels for optical lenses, spun around in a drum with them. With steam and pressure, each stray piece of wool begins to entangle itself with others roughly creating a completely unique rock-like shape without the help of any bonding agents. Felt rocks are solid all the way through, made out of 100% pure wool felt, and carefully dyed.
These rocks were spotted at Unica Lighting.

Spun around inside a drum and subject to intense steam and pressure, bits and pieces of wool entangle and gradually coalesce into smooth, rounded lumps of felt. Felt Delight Shade

I adore this lamp shade because of it's cool shape, style, and cutout butterflies. It's a gorgeous design element.
As featured in Red Magazine, BBC Homes & Antiques, and The Times Magazine.
Delight, by designer Nahoko Koyama, is a delicate pendant shade designed and made in the UK.
It is made from 100% natural wool felt, unlike other synthetic felt shades and the hand cut butterfly-like detailing makes this shade a unique and elegant eco design statement.
It was spotted at EcoCentric for £65.00 in three different colors.
Felt cushions
Felt cushions can be stackable as shown here! It's rather like modular felt. The modular concept is very hip these days, plus not to mention that it maximizes space and creates a new design sculptural element.
These are lovingly named, Pill. ;-)
They were spotted at Morlen Sinoway Furniture and can be customized in a number of colors and fabrics.
Felt Rug

These are the Dune Rugs from Danskina spotted at Unica Lighting for $59.00/sq. foot.
Made of felt, this original rug is the first design by Ulf Moritz for Danskina. A new technique for working the felt has been specifically developed for this rug: a woolen fleece is pressed onto a jute backing and fixed in place with natural latex under high temperature. This process is free of any fumes or toxic materials.
