great female fronted metal bands

below are some of my favorite female fronted metal bands

My most lovely female fronted metal band and the founder of the Dutch symphonic metal band Epica, Simone Simons with her natural beauty and marvelous mezzo-soprano voice - able to obtain the four octave vocal - also her alto voice that is clean and excellent in tone contrasted with "death grunts" voice from the second vocalist and also Epica guitar player Mark Jansen, then covered with symphonic metal music. All that makes the concept of "beauty and beast" which Epica offered is smoother and totally mixed thoroughly.

In some tracks, Simone Simons operatic voice more viscous with choir and orchestral background, but still wrapped in progressive, gothic, symphonic and power metal Epica music creating music with "Epic, dramatic and Glorious" ambiance as you can see on the video below.

The latest CD from Dutch symphonic metallers Epica is The Classical Conspiracy. It's a double disc live recording from the 2008 Miskolc Opera Festival in Hungary. They played classical and soundtrack songs in addition to Epica songs, all with an orchestra and choir. Vocalist Simone Simons gives us the scoop on the preparations for that concert, the status of their next studio CD, her musical beginnings and many other topics.

Chad Bowar: How did you decide to record a live album that included classical songs?
Simone Simons: We got the offer to do an opera festival in Hungary with orchestra and choir. In addition to the Epica set, we could also play classical songs and soundtrack songs of our choice. Since that has always been on our wish list, we said yes immediately. We wanted to make a DVD or live CD to have something to remember such a great event. Since we had so much time invested in rearranging the Epica songs and the classical songs, we didn't have time to make a DVD out of it. That's why it's a live CD. We're all big classical music and soundtrack fans, so it was bound to happen one day.

How much time did you have to get everything together before the performance?
It was half a year. In December 2007 we agreed to the show and put together a setlist we wanted to play. We rearranged the classical songs to fit into the Epica style, and my boyfriend (Oliver Palotai from Kamelot) rearranged the Epica songs for the orchestra. He worked on it for two or three months, then came rehearsal of the band, choir and orchestra separately. A week before the show we went to Hungary and rehearsed for four or five hours a day. It was really a lot of work, and the show went by so fast. I think it's really cool that we have the CD to have a memory of it. We worked so long for the preparations of a great live show, and even though it was a two and a half hour show it went by really fast. We got to meet so many nice new people. The orchestra and choir were amazing. I love Hungary, because my boyfriend has Hungarian roots.

You had some health issues and had to take some time off from touring in early 2008. How were you feeling when the show was recorded in June of last year?
I was doing much better by then. It was the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008 I was struggling with my health. I had a really bad immune system and was attacked by a hospital bacteria. I had to take it easy for a couple months. We were unfortunately not able to do some tours, and Epica had to go to America with a different singer. I'm rid of that and feeling really healthy...

One of the foremost lovely female fronted metal bands as well as the composer of the Dutch Symphonic metal metal band Within Temptation, Sharon den Adel performs in the mezzo-soprano magnitude, but with "thin" sound quality and especially "clear" together within temptation Sharon den Adel has been to inspire the metal sphere for more than a decade.

First present in the metal scene, within temptation attracts the album with an impressive gothic nuance labeled ENTER in year 1997.

Later their musical style developed to evolve.
Numerous people decrypt within temptation genre is symphonic metal, though Sharon den Adel wished to labeled their style of music as symphonic rock.

Gossow joined Arch Enemy in November 2000, after former lead singer Johan Liiva was removed from the band. She had previously interviewed guitarist Michael Amott for a German webzine. While interviewing Amott, Gossow gave him a demo that she described as a "poor quality" video of a performance at a club. When the band sacked then-vocalist Johan Liiva in 2000, Arch Enemy called in Gossow for an audition. Amott said that "she wiped the floor with all the other contenders."

Gossow provides the voice for the recurring character, Lavona Succuboso in the animated television show Metalocalypse. According to an interview with Musiikki TV at the Frostbite Festival 2009, Gossow did guest vocals on the Astarte album Demonized, on the song "Black at Heart".

Gossow is among a small number of females to front as a death metal singer. She has a mezzo-soprano vocal range, with a death growl. She is a vegetarian and politically considers herself an anarchist. She is an atheist. Since 2008 she is a manager for Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars. She was also called a 'Gorgeous Growling Lioness' for her growling abilities by Prashanth Vidyasagar in his article published in Bangalore Mirror.

Gossow is taking private vocals and piano lessons and is working in close conjunction with noted vocal coach Melissa Cross....

The frontwoman for Italian metallers Lacuna Coil is a Mediterranean, raven-haired, exotic beauty. There's no denying the fact that she's a stunner. However, Scabbia downplays her sexy, beloved-by-metal-dudes image, recently telling Hails + Horns in an interview constructed of fan questions, that she sees herself as a "geeky girl," rather than a sexpot or a sex symbol.

A fan sent a question to Scabbia, asking "You are my idol. You are strong, meaningful and a hell of a model figure to look up to. How do you see yourself? Did you ever think you would be a role model to somebody like me, and who was yours?"

Scabbia answered thoughtfully, saying "I see myself as a geeky girl who's been able to realize that it is beautiful to be unique, as everyone is. I love to play with my image and I find myself a pretty sensual person, but at the same time I am surprised when people look at me as a sex symbol."

The singer also revealed that she hardly wears makeup when she's not on stage or in the spotlight, and that true Lacuna Coil fans know that she is simple and unfussy. Scabbia said, "I am happy to be a role model to some people, 'cause I am sure that whoever looks up to me can see the 'girl next door that rocks' thing."

Tarja Turunen is a singer and songwriter also a composer.

With classical vocal training background, Tarja Turunen is known as the former vocalist of the symphonic metal band Nightwish from Finland, which she founded with Erno Vuorinen and Tuomas Holopainen in 1996.

Nightwish's first album, entitled Angels Fall First was released on 1 November 1997 gained popularity and attracted much attention in the metal scene.

Nightwish symphonic metal style that combines harsh guitar riffs and fast with main female classical vocal who later dubbed as "opera metal"

Currently, Tarja who has produced three solo albums are frequently performed in some classical concerts. She also became guest singer and appeared in several metal concerts.
